ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.

What you will do…
Independently or as part of a team, conducts routine and/or non-routine audits (e.g., gathers information; performs review and analysis of records, operations, activities, controls and systems or applies accepted auditing standards and principles);
Acts as audit team lead (e.g., park audits, grantee audits, concessionaire audits, contracted audits, lessee audits) in absence of higher-level external auditor when assigned;
Conducts management review of agency activities (e.g., revenue, inventory, expenditures, payroll, state and federal grants, petty cash, payment cards, evidence, citations);
Assists in preparing and/or prepares necessary work papers, related audit and pre-audit materials, preliminary audit reports and final audit report or draft audit report to summarize activities, findings & recommendations to improve or resolve deficiencies or non-compliance;
Provides technical assistance to agencies and providers (e.g., offers advice of how to improve internal controls and implementing corrective actions) and acts as quality assurance technician;
Conducts entrance and exit conferences with representatives to discuss scope of audit and exit interviews to review findings and recommendations; conducts program audits when necessary; answers telephone or written inquiries concerning audits.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires frequent travel with possible overnight stays; positions which involve travel to audit sites in field also require valid Ohio driver’s license in order to operate state-owned vehicle or must be able to provide own transportation.
