The center's building houses classrooms, drive through truck bays, and four virtual driving simulators .

Teaches students to develop skills in shifting, clutching, cornering, backing, driving, coupling, inspecting and all other necessary competencies in becoming an entry level truck driver.
Employs instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives, assesses accomplishments of students, and provides progress reports as requested and required.
Teaches students to understand vehicle components in order to perform pre and post trip inspections.
Instructs students on location and purpose of various components in diesel trucks and semi-trailers.
Ensures that Hawkeye Community College and other vendor equipment (e.g. trucks, trailers), facilities, and tools are kept clean and in good condition.
Provides instruction to individuals enrolled in transportation programs at the Regional Transportation Training Center or at various company locations.
Knowledge of State and Federal regulations.
Adheres to DOT, Hawkeye Community College, and departmental safety regulations and rules.
Treats and respects all students equally and addresses any inappropriate behavior promptly and fairly.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years on the road or local driving experience.
Hold current CDL Class A license.
Demonstrated ability to utilize and operate full size semi-trucks during instruction.
Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills to positively interact with students, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, maintain customer confidence and protect operational integrity.
Ability to work with and provide customer service for diverse populations (faculty, staff, students, and general public).

Work is performed in an office setting. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours. During the course of the day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person. Employment Status
Part-time, hourly positions on an as needed basis with an average of up to 27 hours per week.
This position starts at $21.50 per hour with potential for an increase after 90 days.

Works closely with other areas of college that can include other campuses, departments, and the foundation office.
Creates and maintains paper and electronic databases and records.
Coordinates materials and refreshments for activities and meetings include arranging room setup.
Partners with third-party vendors and/or sponsors to assist students with registration, gathering payment information, and disseminating credential information.

Carpenter and Lock Shop Supervisor plans, supervises, & assigns work to carpentry staff that perform skilled/complex carpentry work in the renovation, design, installation, repair & maintenance of College facilities. Oversees and assigns work to Lock Shop staff that perform skilled/complex locksmith work to over 10,000 locks on campus. Oversees general building lock and door hardware systems in the renovation, design, installation, repair & maintenance of College facilities. Instructs carpentry personnel in complex woodworking techniques. Evaluates specific needs of each job, prepares estimates, places orders for materials, & tracks cost. Determines work order priority & schedules work to be completed. Performs admin tasks & accesses work orders in Maintenance Direct via computer. Provides technical assistance to Project Coordinators.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma and six years of experience in the carpentry trade. Graduate of technical or carpentry school preferred. Must be a highly skilled carpenter with considerable knowledge of standard practices, methodology, techniques and requirements of the carpentry trade. Two years of supervisory experience required. Must have a valid SC Driver’s License, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, as the employee will be required to drive state vehicles to transport equipment and/or personnel. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience an/or education and encourage to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have the ability & skill to locate & correct emergency, general, & complex carpentry problems. Must be knowledgeable & skilled in using tools, equipment, materials & supplies of the carpentry trade. Must be able to comprehend blueprints, plans & specifications & know structural support/load bearing requirements. Must also be knowledgeable in all facets of installation, repair, & maintenance of drywall, tile, bricks, pavers, & Formica. Knowledge and experience with historic preservation is a plus. Carpenter and Lock Shop Supervisor plans, supervises, & assigns work to carpentry staff that perform skilled/complex carpentry work in the renovation, design, installation, repair & maintenance of College facilities. Oversees and assigns work to Lock Shop staff that perform skilled/complex locksmith work to over 10,000 locks on campus. Oversees general building lock and door hardware systems in the renovation, design, installation, repair & maintenance of College facilities. Instructs carpentry personnel in complex woodworking techniques. Evaluates specific needs of each job, prepares estimates, places orders for materials, & tracks cost. Determines work order priority & schedules work to be completed. Performs admin tasks & accesses work orders in Maintenance Direct via computer. Provides technical assistance to Project Coordinators.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma and six years of experience in the carpentry trade. Graduate of technical or carpentry school preferred. Must be a highly skilled carpenter with considerable knowledge of standard practices, methodology, techniques and requirements of the carpentry trade. Two years of supervisory experience required. Must have a valid SC Driver’s License, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, as the employee will be required to drive state vehicles to transport equipment and/or personnel. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience an/or education and encourage to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have the ability & skill to locate & correct emergency, general, & complex carpentry problems. Must be knowledgeable & skilled in using tools, equipment, materials & supplies of the carpentry trade. Must be able to comprehend blueprints, plans & specifications & know structural support/load bearing requirements. Must also be knowledgeable in all facets of installation, repair, & maintenance of drywall, tile, bricks, pavers, & Formica. Knowledge and experience with historic preservation is a plus. Position requires basic computer skills and working knowledge and experience in using e-mail. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is preferred. Experience in utilizing on-line work order systems is a plus. Skill with electronic devices such as iPhone and iPad is preferred. Must be able to follow oral & written instructions. The School of Applied Technologies is looking for a full-time Administrative Assistant II to join their team. In this position, you will work in a fun and fast paced area that offers a wide variety of day-to-day activities and interactions with exceptional faculty and students. You will provide administrative support to the Dean as well as perform a variety of administrative support services for special projects, committees, functions and activities for our fifteen diverse, career building programs.

Maintains Dean’s calendar. Responsible for scheduling meetings, events, and appointments.
Fields incoming office inquiries via in-person, telephone, or email.

Serves and facilitates college committee meetings, by providing the following services: calendar and room scheduling, agenda preparation, taking meeting minutes, and organizes specific event tasks as assigned by the Dean.
Makes business travel arrangements for staff as needed.
Coordinates social gatherings for department, as needed.
Assists the Dean in reading, researching, and routing correspondence such as drafting letters and documents, collecting and analyzing information, and initiating telecommunications.
Ensures operation of office equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; arranging for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Receives, prepares, and submits requisitions into Colleague.
Fields incoming student requests and route to appropriate personnel.
Maintains confidentiality with sensitive information.
May be assigned to assist students regarding class registration.
Participates in campus committees as assigned.
Position Specific Duties
Submits faculty assignments into Colleague, including concurrent assignments.
Fields and submits day-to-day Hawkeye Service requests from faculty and staff into Hippo.
Prepares special assignment pay paperwork and overloads pay paperwork.
Updates the full-time faculty list and adjunct lists each semester, including updating the directory and distribution lists.
Prepares, formats, and displays classroom schedules each semester. Tracks any changes that occur.
Prepares, formats, and displays faculty schedules each semester. Tracks any changes that occur.
Tracks faculty syllabi submissions.
Processes requisitions via Colleague, processes faculty special assignment pay, sub pay, and CSAR.
Submits sub pay for faculty as needed.
Prepares advisory committees to include sending invites, tracking attendance, and taking meeting minutes. Updates advisory committee member lists.
Prepares MORE packets for assigned program, including running student evaluations. Fields incoming calls from students and signs them up for the MORE sessions. Notifies Student Services on which session student is attending; check students on the day of their MORE session; and adds the cluster code into Colleague so they can register for classes.
When applicable, maintains and updates clinical contracts for all clinical sites used by HCC. Sends new contracts and tracks for signatures. Maintains clinical site list for faculty use.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Completion of an Associate’s degree and four (4) years of experience as an Administrative Assistant or related field or a combination of education and experience to total six (6) years.

Establishes long and short-range strategic plans for designated areas in collaboration with college leadership.
Appoints faculty assignments and schedule management.
Drives and manages innovation in Hawkeye's new and existing academic programs and teaching modalities.
Utilizes data from enrollment and retention reports to determine the number of sections of classes to offer, finding/assigning instructors based on their credentials; determining rooms based on equipment needs, and determining the time of course offering to best suit student needs.
Facilitates recruitment, registration, enrollment, and retention of students.
Prepares and/or reviews reports that provide guidance for student programming.
Oversees the curriculum development and assessment process.
Manages partnerships with schools and institutions to provide streamlined education resulting in efficient pathways for Hawkeye’s students.
Partners with facility management to provide updated and safe learning environments.
Executes personnel decisions and actions such as hiring, job coaching, completion of staff performance evaluations, oversees assignment of professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, and performs administrative tasks such as processing and approving leave requests and work load. Partners with HR regarding disciplinary matters.
Continuously analyzes and evaluates performance of faculty and makes recommendations for improvement. Manages probationary process of new faculty. Leads faculty development initiatives.
Prepares reports as needed for college, state, federal, or other entity reporting requirements.
Conducts advisory meetings to provide guidance on the directions of the programs.
Collaborates with other designated HCC personnel regarding course and program offerings for concurrent enrollment with school districts within the service area.
Collaborates with high school and higher education institutions to assure seamless transfers.
Resolve faculty and student issues to include by meeting with faculty and students to discuss concerns. Provides guidance regarding resolutions.
Collaborates with other community colleges to deliberate programs of study.
Collaborates with faculty to assess HCC equipment as well as assess future equipment needs within the departments and discipline areas.
Keeps apprised of higher education regulations and requirements, and developments via statewide community college meetings, conferences, and seminars, and other professional development avenues.
Partners with facility management to provide updated and safe learning environments.
Manages the designated area(s) budget to include grants, professional development, and over all purchasing needs.
Manages materials and supplies; works with faculty and administrative assistants to assess needs, sourcing, and price determination. Facilitates the requisition and purchase order process.
Oversees assigned program area for accreditation and works with local school districts and the Iowa Department of Education regarding requirements for accreditation.
Attends HCC meetings to discuss and resolve college issues, and/or concerns.
Develops professional development opportunities for high school instructors. Works with faculty to provide courses that will provide college credit and re-licensure credits for high school instructors.

Master’s degree in a curriculum discipline, education, administration, or closely related field.
