This position is part of the Assistant Regional Director-External Affairs in the Mountain-Prairie Region of the US Fish and Wildlife Service, located in Lakewood, CO. As a Native American Liaison you will be working closely with Native American Tribes to facilitate consultation and communication between the Tribes and the Service and, where possible, to provide technical assistance and financial resources to support the development of tribal programs to protect and enhance habitat and native species, including Federally protected and endangered species.

Serves as the liaison for matters in Region 6 relating to endangered species, habitat conservation, refuge, fisheries and migratory bird planning and management affecting the interests of Native American Tribes.
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with Native American tribes, organizations, committees, etc., relative to pertinent Service programs, projects, initiatives, etc., as they interact with Native American interests. Represents the Service and the Region at meetings and conferences relating to Native American issues.
Provides advice and guidance to Native American tribes regarding obtaining or regaining grant eligibility. Coordinates and facilitates the development of grant request submissions to maximize the use of the Tribal Wildlife Grants Program to support tribal management needs.
