Reports To: Curator of Saltwater
Position Summary:
The Assistant Curator of Saltwater will help oversee the care of the saltwater animals as well as supervise staff. Reporting to the Curator of Saltwater, this position will develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures relevant to the personnel and the Saltwater collection at Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. This individual will also help orchestrate all aspects of animal care, including but not limited to; acquisition, disposition, record keeping, husbandry, enrichment, implementation of balanced and nutritional diets, translocations, medical procedures and vaccinations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Zoology, Biology or related field
A minimum 7 years’ proven experience in an aquarium or zoo environment, demonstrating a proven record of animal husbandry, enrichment and exhibition of a variety reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates
Critical Skills/Competencies:
Awareness of current animal issues in zoos and aquariums and outside in the wild
Ability to successfully manage the animal collection
Understand exhibit design and construction
Recognize any deficiencies in exhibit or animal holding facilities
Ability to prioritize issues affecting animals and staff
Knowledge of annual budget process and ability to operate within departmental budget
Knowledge and skills to interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems

Help schedule, assign and direct Saltwater staff and volunteers, as-needed, which includes performance management and disciplinary action
Collaborate with Department Directors and Curators on animal habitat designs and renovation.
Lead others in the research and development of new habitats and renovations
Lead by example to animal care staff; providing encouragement, coaching, training, mentoring and opportunities for growth, both personally and professionally

Responsibilities
The PR and Marketing Manager manages the Marketing and Public Relations functions for The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
Responsibilities include:
Develops and manages marketing and advertising campaign plans, projects, and initiatives (including budget, timetables, and schedules) utilizing various forms of print, digital, and new media assets that support community outreach, museum attendance, and builds The Ringling’s national and international brand and profile. Coordinates the Marketing teams efforts by providing a marketing plan for each event, program, or performance, along with approved, edited Marketing copy; images and associated credits; and logistical details as needed. Coordinates communication for The Ringling Magazine with all stakeholders including gathering and/or creating content for the magazine. Provides magazine pagination along with edited copy, images and credits to the Design Team.
Works collaboratively with the marketing team to discuss strategy, tactics, and the implementation of all marketing and communications projects and initiatives that support The Ringling’s strategic goals, including IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) core initiatives. Seeks out and cultivates relationships and opportunities to extend The Ringling brand in multiple, diverse sectors and segments in Sarasota and Manatee counties. Serves as back-up team lead for Marketing Director at meetings, community engagement initiatives and events, and other duties as assigned. Keeps the marketing team up to date and informed of projects and initiatives weekly to maximize team cohesiveness and workflow. Adjusts marketing plans as needed based on data and analytics.
Manages all local and regional public relations functions and serves as the public relations specialist for The Ringling. Writes news releases, media alerts, PSAs and creates press kit materials suitable for local media. Ensures that all events, exhibitions, performances and programs are posted to online public websites and calendars. Organizes tours of the Museum campus for visiting local media and external clients. Manages, schedules and stewards all external photoshoot opportunities with assistance from the Public Relations and Marketing Program Associate.
Collaborates with outsourced national PR firm to write, edit and develop positioning statements, key messages, and crisis communication responses to the public inquiry. Develops media relations budget and plan. Serves as the primary contact for local media inquiries, interviews and internal communication. Works closely with National PR firm to prepare talking points for Executive Director, Marketing Director, Board of Directors, and Senior Staff. Makes suggestions and recommendations to the Marketing Director regarding local public relations functions.
Collaborates with the Marketing Director on the development of large-scale marketing and promotional campaigns that identify and address the needs of the museum’s exhibitions, educational programming, events, and performances that support The Ringling’s membership, attendance and revenue goals, as well as the museum’s public image.
Supervises and provides direction for the public relations and marketing program associate to include hiring, training and performance evaluation.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to marketing, and /or marketing functions, communications, media; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience.
Knowledge of current media technology and trends.
Knowledge of public relations practices.
Ability to write and/or proofread and edit written word and/or information in various formats.
Ability to promote an inclusive and welcoming work/education environment.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11 .

Anticipated Salary Range
The anticipated rate of pay is up to and will not exceed 55k annually and will be based on the education, skills, and experience of the selected candidate.

Associates will be performing a variety of tasks to include:
- Processing ticket orders.
- Selling general admission; docent tours; film, theater, and lecture tickets.

- Efficient, accurate cash handling and ticket distribution.
- Assist with Events and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience handling cash quickly and accurately.
- Experience with Microsoft Office to include Excel and Outlook
- Ability to be trained/use web-based computer ticketing systems (Tessitura).
- Ability to serve and work with diverse populations.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing (in person, over the phone, and via email).
- Ability to stand for up to longer periods of time, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Duties will include:
- Guarding against theft, vandalism, and other damage.
- Assisting with urgent/emergency situations, such as accidents/injuries, medical emergencies, theft, vandalism, and other incidents calmly and in a timely manner.
- Conducting daily inspections of assigned areas and escorting staff and guests.
- Monitoring visitor activity to ensure adherence to museum/Asolo policies and procedures.
- Customer service oriented at all times to include enforcing policies and interacting with guests, briefly responding to visitor/staff requests and questions to the best of their ability in a courteous manner, and/or directing them to where they can find the information.
Qualifications
High school diploma/equivalent required.
Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing, as well as via computer and two-way radio.
Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time, walk significant distances, patrol multi-story buildings, and climb stairs to respond to emergencies.
Must be able to calmly respond to emergencies.
Must be skilled in customer service as this is a front line position that interacts with and provides information to the visiting public.
Must present a professional image in accordance with the established uniform and appearance standards.
A valid driver's license is required for this position.

Responsibilities
Provide excellent, enthusiastic customer service to visitors, to include: greeting and thanking guests as they enter and leave the stores, learning store product, proactively assisting visitors with product selection, making suggestions to meet guests' needs while increasing sales opportunities, making thoughtful suggestions for additional products for purchase, answering general visitor inquiries, and processing sales at register.
Additional responsibilities include: processing shipping orders, returns, and helping to maintain store appearance such as dusting, straightening, restocking, and any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/equivalent.
Ability to handle cash accurately.
Experience with basic computer use with the ability to learn point of sales software system.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and engage customers in a friendly and timely manner.
Ability to effectively communicate product information.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, climb a small step ladder, stock products on high and low shelves, and ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities
Provide excellent, enthusiastic customer service to visitors, to include: greeting and thanking guests as they enter and leave the stores, learning store product, proactively assisting visitors with product selection, making suggestions to meet guests' needs while increasing sales opportunities, making thoughtful suggestions for additional products for purchase, answering general visitor inquiries, and processing sales at register.
Additional responsibilities include: processing shipping orders, returns, and helping to maintain store appearance such as dusting, straightening, restocking, and any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/equivalent.
Ability to handle cash accurately.
Experience with basic computer use with the ability to learn point of sales software system.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and engage customers in a friendly and timely manner.
Ability to effectively communicate product information.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, climb a small step ladder, stock products on high and low shelves, and ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Preferred
Ideal candidate will have customer service, merchandising, or retail experience.

Responsibilities
Museum Attendants will work a variety of assigned posts and events in all buildings on the museum grounds and at The Asolo Repertory Theater, as well as patrol buildings and grounds on foot and by golf cart. Museum Attendants are responsible for the safety of all staff and visitors and the protection of the collection, buildings, and grounds. This position will occasionally utilize computers to write reports, send correspondences, and submit work orders.
Duties will include:
Guarding against theft, vandalism, and other damage.
Assisting with urgent/emergency situations, such as accidents/injuries, medical emergencies, theft, vandalism, and other incidents calmly and in a timely manner.
Conducting daily inspections of assigned areas and escorting staff and guests.
Monitoring visitor activity to ensure adherence to museum/Asolo policies and procedures.
Customer service oriented at all times to include enforcing policies and interacting with guests, and briefly responding to visitor/staff requests and questions to the best of their ability in a courteous manner and/or directing them to where they can find the information.
Qualifications
High school diploma/equivalent required.
Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing, as well as via computer and two-way radio.
Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time, walk significant distances, patrol multi-story buildings, and climb stairs to respond to emergencies.
Must be able to calmly respond to emergencies.
Must be skilled in customer service as this is a front line position that interacts with and provides information to the visiting public.
Must present a professional image in accordance with the established uniform and appearance standards.
A valid driver's license is required for this position.
