The Communications Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York City invites applications for the full-time position of Marketing Associate.

 

OVERVIEW

The Marketing Associate is part of a team responsible for promoting the ACLU’s mission and brand to target audiences. The position will focus on optimizing and maintaining the ACLU’s ecommerce store, reaching new audiences, increasing engagement and sales among key stakeholders, and, as appropriate, enhancing the affiliate store presence to meet organizational needs. The Marketing Associate reports to the Online Marketing Manager.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Marketing and Brand teams to assess and respond to organizational marketing needs and execute the brand strategy in merchandising and collateral
  • Support ecommerce store operations: update and track product, forecast and improve product performance, and implement ecommerce shop updates
  • Work with the Online Marketing Manager to develop audiences and build marketing campaigns with the primary goal of increasing online sales, product distribution, and supporting the needs of ACLU affiliates
  • Support digital marketing strategies to track sales and increase ecommerce business performance
  • Assist with marketing and promotion for special high-profile inventory lines.
  • Create performance reports to track ecommerce trends, traffic, customer acquisition, conversions and other data
  • Work collaboratively with Communications staff to increase branding opportunities, online store visibility and sales; ensure brand consistency across various products, platforms and touchpoints
  • Assist with managing the store budget, invoices and financial reports
  • Manage onsite sales and special events at conferences, pop-up stores, exhibitions, and other opportunities to strengthen ACLU brand awareness
  • Help build an Affiliate Marketing program using the online store as a key component to increase affiliate use of branded materials and facilitate local customization when appropriate
  • Maintain a marketing calendar that identifies key opportunities to elevate the ACLU brand, promote the online store, and engage key audiences
  • Work with the Communications Online Marketing Manager to test, analyze and optimize new store features and online campaigns
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity within the office by using a  personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences in regards to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstance
  • Commitment to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving  obstacles and/or conflicts

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years’ ecommerce, digital marketing or related  technical experience
  • Merchandising experience preferred
  • Event management/event marketing experience required
  • Administrative proficiency in Big Commerce, Magento, Shopify or similar ecommerce platforms preferred
  • Technical knowledge of administering content management systems and basic HTML & CSS required
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite products (i.e. Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Adobe products
  • Analytical, data-driven, results-oriented self-starter
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong strategic and creative problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and discretion with internal and external stakeholders, celebrity spokespeople and their managers, outside vendors, and ACLU members is essential
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; manage multiple projects through to completion under strict deadlines
  • Commitment to the mission of the ACLU
