The Box Office Manager is responsible for managing the administrative and operational activities of The Ringling Museum’s Box Office. Responsibilities will include:
Managing Historic Asolo Theater box office policies and procedures for single ticket sales, group sales, and all ticketed series/subscription sales and renewals (i.e. Summer Circus and Gallery Walk and Talks). Setting box office policy on ticketing with guidance from the Assistant Director of Visitor Services and senior staff. Interpreting museum operation policies and procedures. May recommend new procedures or ticketing strategies based upon report analysis, customer comment cards, and perceived customer needs. Responsible for box office receipts and daily reconciliation.
Assisting Curator of Performance Programming with development and distribution of marketing and communication tools.
Assisting with audience and Guest Artist relations.
Managing and supervising box office and house management staff; making assignments, delegating responsibilities, and providing daily guidance as needed. Ensuring staff compliance with PCI and cash handling policies, processes returns, and investigates cash discrepancies. Training staff on job responsibilities, customer service skills, program offerings, and promotions. Hiring and conducting performance evaluations in consultation with the Assistant Director of Visitor Services.
Establishing, enforcing, and overseeing on-the-spot interpretation of policies related to the operations of the box office and house. Resolving a wide variety of problems during performances as well as on a daily basis and maintains a customer service focus with patrons and other staff. Working with Front of House personnel during performances and events associated with seating issues, ADA concerns, customer service, etc. to resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.
Overseeing all front of house procedures to provide optimal customer service including: the development and management of volunteer ushers, monitoring of all public areas, and distributing collateral materials to audiences. Acts as back-up in these duties when necessary due to absence or times of high volume.
Serving as a Manager on Duty for other Visitors Pavilion locations, as needed, to resolve guest and/or employee issues, supervise cash count outs in accordance with PCI Policy, and work within Tessitura to troubleshoot employee Tessitura challenges.
Bachelor's degree and two years’ experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.
Ability to learn ticketing management software (Tessitura), conversant in a wide variety of performing arts genres, knowledge of cash handling and accounting.
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of theatre layout, production, and stage management.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, to include use of telephone.
Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
Ability to utilize conflict resolution skills.
Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position to include lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and ascending/descending stairs.
Knowledge of applicable computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and basic computer functions.
Ability to train and supervise employees.
Previous experience with Tessitura.

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.
Primary hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; however weekends, evenings, and holidays may be required based on the needs of the Ringling.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
