The Recruitment Specialist is responsible for duties relating to the identification and recruitment of adult volunteers and youth members. They are responsible for implementing and assessing comprehensive year-round recruitment and membership support strategies that increase Girl Scout and volunteer membership. The Recruitment Specialist acts as a first contact for new members connecting with Girl Scouts for the first time and sets the tone for the rest of their membership experience. This position also acts as a primary contact for community partners such as schools, libraries, and recreation centers. The Recruitment Specialist is accountable for generating qualified youth and adult volunteer leads.
Frequent travel required within service area***
This role requires a non-restricted driver's license, active car insurance, active vehicle registration, and reliable transportation that may require bringing equipment and supplies to programs sites.
Mileage reimbursement is available for necessary travel related to this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represent Girl Scouts of Colorado in the assigned community of focus.
Analysis of community needs, demographic data and membership statistics, develop, design and conduct recruitment and retention plan for youth and volunteer membership growth in designated geographic areas in coordination with membership team leadership.
Provide potential new members with a consistent message about Girl Scouting and all of the possible ways to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).
Prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made in order to meet membership goal.
Establish the appropriate volunteer support team to accomplish key priorities by selecting, appointing, and coaching recruitment and community engagement volunteers in assigned geographic areas.
Support service unit development and maintenance through implementation of recruitment and support strategies.
Seek opportunities and keep in contact with local community organizations, agencies and leaders, educators, and faith-based institutions to increase awareness of Girl Scouting and support member recruitment efforts.
Prepare a variety of status reports, including activity, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
Work collaboratively with all Council departments to ensure council program and initiatives are successfully marketed to youth and adult membership.
Provide professionally superior customer service to all internal and external customers, members, volunteers, staff and other community contacts in person, electronically and by phone.
Ensure that diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into the daily work of the position.
Active participation in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and Scouts.

The Recruitment Specialist is responsible for duties relating to the identification and recruitment of adult volunteers and youth members. They are responsible for implementing and assessing comprehensive year-round recruitment and membership support strategies that increase Girl Scout and volunteer membership. The Recruitment Specialist acts as a first contact for new members connecting with Girl Scouts for the first time and sets the tone for the rest of their membership experience. This position also acts as a primary contact for community partners such as schools, libraries, and recreation centers. The Recruitment Specialist is responsible for duties relating to the identification and recruitment of adult volunteers and youth members. They are responsible for implementing and assessing comprehensive year-round recruitment and membership support strategies that increase Girl Scout and volunteer membership. The Recruitment Specialist acts as a first contact for new members connecting with Girl Scouts for the first time and sets the tone for the rest of their membership experience. This position also acts as a primary contact for community partners such as schools, libraries, and recreation centers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represent Girl Scouts of Colorado in the assigned community of focus.
Analysis of community needs, demographic data and membership statistics, develop, design and conduct recruitment and retention plan for youth and volunteer membership growth in designated geographic areas in coordination with membership team leadership.
Provide potential new members with a consistent message about Girl Scouting and all of the possible ways to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).
Prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made in order to meet membership goal.

Support service unit development and maintenance through implementation of recruitment and support strategies.
Seek opportunities and keep in contact with local community organizations, agencies and leaders, educators, and faith-based institutions to increase awareness of Girl Scouting and support member recruitment efforts.
Prepare a variety of status reports, including activity, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
Work collaboratively with all Council departments to ensure council program and initiatives are successfully marketed to youth and adult membership.

What is a Program and Events Specialist?
Girl Scouts of Colorado partners with a variety of organizations to engage Girls Scouts in leadership development programming through the lens of STEM, life skills, entrepreneurship, and outdoor stewardship. Conduct ongoing inspection of the site for hazards with an emphasis on specialty areas. Implement safety and security measures.
Practice good housekeeping and sanitation practices in specialty areas.
Check area first-aid kits at least weekly and re-supply if needed; submit accurate records of illness, accident, and incident according to procedure.
Teach emergency procedures for the activity. Call for and participate in rehearsals.
Give first-aid care until the Health Supervisor or other professionals arrive.
Cancel or modify activity if weather or other hazards warrant, substituting related activities.
Verify that equipment is in safe condition before each use, and is properly sized if this is a safety factor.
Maintain and store equipment in good condition. Make needed repairs or written report to supervisor.
Inventory equipment as directed. Report and/or make needed repairs.
Be present at all risk activities in this program area unless specifically exempted by supervisor.
Adhere to all safety and security procedures at all times.
Demonstrate responsibility, accountability and overall maturity of judgement.
Evaluate activities with campers and staff.

Implement and interpret Girl Scout, state, and American Camp Association (ACA) (and ACCT where applicable) standards for all program areas.
Make assignments to staff assigned to assist after verifying their competence.
Conduct ongoing inspection of the site for hazards with an emphasis on specialty areas. Implement safety and security measures.
Practice good housekeeping and sanitation practices in specialty areas.
Check area first-aid kits at least weekly and re-supply if needed; submit accurate records of illness, accident, and incident according to procedure.
Teach emergency procedures for the activity. Call for and participate in rehearsals.
Give first-aid care until the Health Supervisor or other professionals arrive.
Cancel or modify activity if weather or other hazards warrant, substituting related activities.
Verify that equipment is in safe condition before each use, and is properly sized if this is a safety factor.
Maintain and store equipment in good condition. Make needed repairs or written report to supervisor.
Inventory equipment as directed. Report and/or make needed repairs.
Be present at all risk activities in this program area unless specifically exempted by supervisor.

What is a Membership Specialist?

Through analysis of community needs, demographic data and membership statistics, develop, design and conduct recruitment and retention plan for youth and volunteer membership growth in designated geographic areas.
Establish the appropriate volunteer support team to accomplish key priorities by selecting, appointing, and coaching volunteers in assigned geographic areas.
Membership Conversion
Guide potential adult and youth members on the Salesforce pipeline through conversion by phone calls, emails, etc.
Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity in a timely fashion.
Coordinate the placement of registered Girl Scouts into appropriate troops.
Coordinate the placement of registered adults into appropriate volunteer roles.
Ensure that diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into the daily work of the position.
Active participation in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.

What does an Outdoor Programs and Events Manager do?
The Outdoor Programs and Events Manager leads outdoor day programs and special events for Girls Scouts of Colorado (GSCO). This position will be responsible for outdoor program design and implementation, risk mitigation, program administration, and staff leadership. This position will be responsible for outdoor programs serving elementary and middle school age Girl Scouts newer to the outdoor experience. Day programs and events are a key feature of our strategic plans to make outdoor experiences more accessible to all Girl Scouts and offer high quality outdoor programming to add value to the Girl Scout experience.

Program Design

Create outdoor and adventure programming that is exciting, progressive, skill based and inclusive of girls of all ages, ability levels and from a variety of backgrounds while delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity throughout the community.
Coordinate external program vendors.
Conduct participant assessments and program evaluations for long -term planning and growth of day programs, analyze data to improve future programming.
Staff Leadership
Recruit, onboard, train, and lead seasonal staff.
On-site lead for day programs staff: expectation setting, leading start and end of day team meetings, coaching conversations as needed.
Create and facilitate staff training content within guidelines from childcare licensing requirements and Girl Scout safety standards, in collaboration with other members of the statewide outdoor program team.
Coaching and mid-summer performance feedback to staff, higher level performance and discipline conversations will be in conjunction with the Director of Outdoor Programs.
Program Operations Management
Camp locations: research and reserve camp locations, liaise with location contact for site responsibilities, logistics and usage.
Identify, assess, and reduce risk for outdoor programs.

Safety Standards & Licensing
Adhere to State of Colorado childcare licensing regulations, maintain communication with licensing specialist in collaboration with Director of Outdoor Programs.
Responsible for maintaining the Colorado childcare license in good standing.
Stay current in knowledge of youth development, and adventure program trends and compliance in relation to the American Camping Association Standards, Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints and other certifying outdoor industry organizations such as the American Mountain Guide Association.
Program Administration
Support camp registration forms, communication and other processes in collaboration with supervision and registration team.
Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and girls.
Manage administrative responsibilities in a timely, independent and detail orientated manner. Meet program planning and administration deadlines, monitor program budget, respond to emails, and phone calls quickly, manage tasks independently and communicate additional support needed.

In collaboration with the DEI Engagement Director, develop and implement new programming to include BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and low-income communities.

Create and support Volunteer and Girl Member Resources such as developing Council's own outdoor patches, support specialized volunteer outdoor training, create camp planning guides for troops and service units.
Assist with additional outdoor initiatives, grant projects and other emerging opportunities.
Assist with other outdoor program team programs such as Outdoor Adventure Club, specialty troops, and Troops Camps as needed.

VACCINATION POLICY:
Staff, interns, and volunteers will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. The Museum will consider an exemption from the vaccine requirement if they are unable to get vaccinated due to a qualifying medical disability or a sincerely held religious objection. The Museum is not required to provide an accommodation or exemption from the vaccine requirement if doing so would pose a direct threat to others in the workplace or would create an undue hardship for the Museum.
