Job Purpose
Prepares, edits and disseminates sports informational material for the College of Charleston. Plans and promotes agency programs and activities, including any of the 19 varsity sports. Coordinates work-study, student and game day staff for the athletics communications department.
Minimum Requirements
A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years’ experience related to the development and dissemination of sports informational material at a NCAA Division I college. Must have a valid S.C. driver’s license. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of journalistic principles, practices & techniques of disseminating information to the public through news media. Knowledge of grammar, composition & AP style. Knowledge of the methods & techniques used in planning, composing, designing, editing & producing publications. Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with local, regional and national media & the general public. Ability to supervise subordinate personnel. Knowledge of the procedures for the production of sports information publications, including digital and social media. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, Sidearm Sports, & NCAA Livestats.
Additional Comments Regarding Position
This position requires evening and weekend work, as well as travel with select teams and to off-campus venues. Requires a general knowledge of computers and graphic design for publication layout. Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs of event equipment, computers and boxes of supplies. Must have personal vehicle to commute from different sporting venues.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RANGER ASSISTANT:
Room and board, and all meals provided.

Landscaping and yard maintenance
Manage recycling program.
General cleaning and re-stocking of paper products
Complete various maintenance projects with minimal supervision

REQUIREMENTS FOR RANGER ASSISTANT:
Must be a certified driver on council's behalf (clear MVR background, be at least 21 years of age and provide proof of auto insurance and motor vehicle licensing) to drive council vehicles including work trucks, vans and/or all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment in a safe and effective and effective manner.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS @ GSU SUMMER CAMP:
Pass a criminal background check, including sex-offender registries/driving records.
Hold/obtain Red Cross First Aid & CPR Certifications or the equivalent.
Hold/obtain a Utah Food Handlers' Permit.
Must complete Youth Protection Training within first week of employment.
Ability to communicate and work with groups of campers ages 6-17 and provide necessary verbal instruction to campers.
Understand and implement safety guidelines and standards as outlined by Girl Scouts of the USA, the American Camp Association, and any state and local codes.
Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
Ability to respond in a crisis situation.

Offer research support to CORJE for special projects, including creating and maintaining a RJE Resource Library and RJE Curriculum for LCV and our state partners.
Support the creation and tracking of contracts with consultants and other vendors, as needed.
Qualifications:
Work Experience: Required – At least 2 years of experience in administrative support for a team. Preferred – Experience working directly for someone in senior leadership in an organization; experience doing so in a non-profit, political organization or campaign.
Skills: Required – Demonstrated ability to recognize, analyze and address the implications of structural and institutional inequity, and interpersonal power dynamics in organizations. Excellent written and oral communications skills, including planning and facilitating meetings. Outstanding administrative skills, including attention to detail and the ability to track multiple deliverables with overlapping deadlines in a high-performing environment. Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative, productive, and respectful relationships with staff across different departments. Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and databases, and experience with Zoom and Google Suite.

Properly measure ingredients and assemble them in accordance to Cook/Chef's specifications. Use proper measurement tools to ensure accuracy and proper execution of all recipes.
Wash, peel and prepare raw food products.
Cut and portion different types of meat.
Portion the food and prepare dishes and ingredients for serving.
Breakdown workstation and complete closing duties.
Ensure leftover food is stored properly.
Work closely with Cook/Chef and Dishwasher throughout the course of the shift and provide support as needed.
Test the temperature of foods at specified intervals; Perform daily temperature checks for coolers and products.

Properly measure ingredients and assemble them in accordance to Cook/Chef's specifications. Use proper measurement tools to ensure accuracy and proper execution of all recipes.
Wash, peel and prepare raw food products.
Cut and portion different types of meat.
Portion the food and prepare dishes and ingredients for serving.
Breakdown workstation and complete closing duties.
Ensure leftover food is stored properly.
Work closely with Cook/Chef and Dishwasher throughout the course of the shift and provide support as needed.
Test the temperature of foods at specified intervals; Perform daily temperature checks for coolers and products.
Clean, organize and maintain refrigerators, coolers, and dry storage areas. Restock items as needed. Keep track of ingredient quantities and ensure there are always enough.
Ensures special food requirements for both campers and staff, e.g., food allergies, gluten free and vegetarian diets are managed with utmost importance for 100% accuracy.
Assists Cook/Chef in ensuring food items are readily available for staff on weekends.

Dishwasher and Kitchen Assistant General Duties: The Camp Dishwasher/Kitchen Assistant is responsible for kitchen dishes for meals for campers and staff during summer camp program, cleaning/ organizing kitchen, and appliances. In addition, dishwashers will assist in kitchen as needed during meals. Perform quality audits and specs checks, including temp checks on food items and dish machines.

Assistant Health Supervisor General Duties: The Assistant Health Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the health services at Tomahawk Ranch, a Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO) camp property. This position, in conjunction with health supervisor, provides daily, on-call, and weekly health services for all persons, working in tandem with the wellness supervisor to provide mental, emotional, and social health at camp. Additionally, this role supports the property, hospitality, operational, program, & cabin leadership team as needed as part of the Tomahawk Ranch team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate as an active member of the camp staff team within all aspects of camp program.
Work under the direction of the health supervisor, wellness supervisor, executive camp director, GSCO health supervisor, and camp directors to provide health care for all persons within camp program.
Work under the technical supervision of the health supervisor and a licensed physician who is on-call to provide health advice, support, and services.
Work within the communicable disease plan to ensure safe and healthy practices and measures are taken to help mitigate the spread of illness.
Assist in the weekly and daily health screening procedures and results of all persons.
Prepare and consistently maintain camp-wide first-aid kits. Provide supplies and gear for staff 'self-carry' first aid kits.
Participate in the communication and advice given to staff on accommodations to provide for special medical/health/wellness considerations.
Maintain constant and professional communication with caregivers regarding the health care and services provided to campers.
Provide support in the routine and emergency health procedures in consultation with the health supervisor and executive camp director and in keeping with established guidelines.
Provide a comfortable, soothing, and caring health care environment and space for all persons.
Assist in the cleanliness, organization, care, maintenance, and inventory of the health center & medication delivery room.
Assist in the housekeeping and laundry of the health center, including biohazard laundry.
Provide communication to health supervisor for health/medical supply and equipment requisitions.
Camper Leadership & Supervision
When directed, act 'in loco parentis' regarding the health services for all campers in overnight camp sessions.
Assure campers receive quality health care and medications as directed.
Support & counsel campers in daily living, camp activities, and developing peer relationships.
Staff Leadership & Supervision
Assist in initial and ongoing health/medical training for the purposes of staff continued education.
Provide support for the evaluating staff on the camp-wide health procedures & practices.
Provide health/first aid according to procedures.
Verify staff competence before assigning them health care/first aid care role. Follow up on treatment given. Monitor staff performance throughout the season.
Administration
Manage administrative responsibilities in a timely, independent, and detail-oriented manner.
Provide quality documentation and review of the health/medical practices and procedures at camp.
Participate in camper and staff feedback forms as necessary for the overall camp's strategic planning.
Interact with digital systems including WorkBright, CampMinder, Office365, Slack, Instagram, & Facebook.
Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and campers.
Participate in regular staff meetings and training for planning purposes, communication resolutions, and carrying out assignments.
Coordinate and communicate schedules to campers & staff as necessary.
Carry out ongoing observations to assure that goals and expectations of leadership & health care delivery are positive and appropriate.
Follow policies, procedures, and standards set by the American Camping Association, Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints, Colorado Department of Health and Human Services, and other certifying industry organizations.

This position is responsible for providing daily, on-call, and weekly health services for all persons, working in tandem with the wellness supervisor to provide mental, emotional, and social health at camp. Additionally, this role supports the property, hospitality, operational, program, & cabin leadership team as needed as part of the Tomahawk Ranch team. A primary function of this, and every other job at the Tomahawk Ranch, is to ensure that each member, guest and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
General Responsibilities
Participate as an active member of the camp staff team within all aspects of camp program.
Work with assistant health supervisor, wellness supervisor, executive camp director, GSCO health supervisor, and camp directors to provide health care for all persons within camp program.
Work under the technical supervision of a licensed physician who is on-call to provide health advice, support, and services.
Work within the communicable disease plan to ensure safe and healthy practices and measures are taken to help mitigate the spread of illness.
Accountable for the weekly and daily health screening procedures and results of all persons.

Responsible for the cleanliness, organization, care, maintenance, and inventory of the health center & medication delivery room.

Camper Leadership & Supervision
At all times, act 'in loco parentis' regarding the health services for all campers in overnight camp sessions.
Accountable for assuring campers receive quality health care and medications as directed.
Support & counsel campers in daily living, camp activities, and developing peer relationships.
Staff Leadership & Supervision
Perform initial and ongoing health/medical training for the purposes of staff continued education.
Continually evaluate staff on the camp-wide health procedures & practices.
Provide health/first aid advice according to procedures.
Provide in-person medication administration training for staff, as needed & assigned.
Verify staff competence before assigning them health care/first aid care role. Follow up on treatment given. Monitor staff performance throughout the season.

Manage administrative responsibilities in a timely, independent, and detail-oriented manner.
Accountable for the documentation and review of the health/medical practices and procedures at camp.
Participate in camper and staff feedback forms as necessary for the overall camp's strategic planning.
Interact with digital systems including WorkBright, CampMinder, Office365, Slack, Instagram, & Facebook.
Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and campers.
Participate in regular staff meetings and training for planning purposes, communication resolutions, and carrying out assignments.

Follow policies, procedures, and standards set by the American Camping Association, Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints, Colorado Department of Health and Human Services, and other certifying industry organizations.
PRIMARY CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Work plans are developed with the Executive Camp Director & GSCO Health Supervisor in conjunction with camp strategic plan, budget, and policies.
Provide and/or support camp-wide emergency procedures during on-site and off-site trip incidents.
Provide and/or support wellness practices, mental, social, and emotional health in conjunction with the wellness supervisor.
Provide support as necessary to all operational, program, cabin leadership, and director staff.
Support the work of the site, kitchen, and housekeeping staff as needed.

Day Camp Staff Program Assistant General Duties: Play, guide, and counsel outdoors with elementary age Girl Scouts at local nature parks in the Denver Metro area throughout the summer to help them gain invaluable experience in outdoor recreation, leadership, confidence and so much more! Activities include but are not limited to hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, outdoor skills, archery, Girl Scout outdoor badges, teambuilding, camp games and other activities.
Please note: This role is not an overnight role and does NOT offer housing. Please see schedule below.
*Tentative* Summer 2024 Work Schedule: Camp sessions are Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Friday's will be for staff to prepare and practice for the next week of camp.
Jun 3 - 7: Staff Training Week, Denver. Additional online training will be added and shared with staff by Mid-May.
Camp Session 1: June 10 - 13, TBD (Possibly Barr Lake State Park, Brighton)
Camp Session 2: June 17 - 20, TBD (Possibly Barr Lake State Park, Brighton)
Camp Session 3: June 24 - 27, Bear Creek Lake Park, Lakewood
Fourth of July Holiday Week: July 1- 5 (No work!)
Camp Session 4: Jul 8 - 11, Bear Creek Lake Park, Lakewood
Camp Session 5: July 15 - 18, Cherry Creek State Park, Aurora
Camp Session 6: July 22 - 25, Cherry Creek State Park, Aurora

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
Have current, or be willing to obtain, the following certifications through day camp staff training:
CPR/First Aid
Archery, USA Level 1 instructor
Paddle Sports Facilitator
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age requirement 18+
Must pass any and all GSCO required background checks.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES
Desire to work in an outdoor setting with high energy groups in a fun and instructional manner.
Familiarity with varying outdoor recreation activities and ability to perform outdoor activities.
Familiarity with risk management in an outdoor setting, ability to respond appropriately and direct others in outdoor emergency situations.
Ability to be flexible, adaptable, think quickly under pressure in outdoor situations.
Ability to motivate, develop, inspire, engage, and relate to elementary aged Girl Scouts.
Strong communication and leadership skills, including knowledge of mentoring, evaluating, and inspiring youth.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of children.
Ability to work outside all day in varying temperatures, including high heat.
Ability to commute to varied work locations in the Denver Metro area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitate outdoor and camp programs:
Facilitate high-quality outdoor and camp programming for Girl Scouts that meet the needs of Girl Scouts and fosters the Girl Scout Leadership Experience .
Help create programming that is exciting, progressive, skill based and inclusive of Girl Scouts of all ages, ability levels and from a variety of backgrounds.
Adapt activities and methods to individual and group needs and abilities, provide opportunities for Girl Scouts to experience variety, challenge, and progression.
Use experiential, Girl Scout- led methods of instruction, and positive group management in accordance with the outdoor program department procedures and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
Be prepared with activities for all types of weather and other changes in the planned program.
Act as the supervising staff person for a group of campers:
Demonstrate a caring attitude and manner with campers. Act as a role model of Girl Scout values for campers and staff.
Guide Girl Scouts in becoming a group that includes and appreciates all members and honors individuality.
Build appropriate and positive relationships with campers and communicate participant or group issues to Day Camp Site Director.
Carry out activities to encourage personal growth, learn skills, and provide challenges appropriate to age, ability and readiness.
Keep a high level of patience and understanding with campers and other staff during high stress times.
Prevent accidents and injuries through maintaining safety and risk management standards:
Implement Girl Scout, State of Colorado, and American Camp Association safety standards.
Conduct ongoing site inspection for hazards and verify that equipment is in safe condition before each use and is used properly for participants.
Give first-aid care and complete required documentation of care.
Respond to emergencies as appropriate in dynamic outdoor situations.
Participate as a professional member of the GSCO staff in providing effective staff service to the Council:
Be an active member of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., demonstrating the principles of the Girl Scout Promise and Law in all activities.
Present a positive image to girls, parents, and volunteers through all interactions.
Participate in staff training, attend staff meetings, participate in the evaluation process, and contribute to the planning of the work of the staff team.
Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, or campers.
Support the efforts and commitments of Girl Scouts of Colorado around pluralism.
Demonstrate sensitivity to racial, ethnic, and social diversity of individuals and groups.
Demonstrate a recognition and understanding of good customer service and maintain constructive relationships with co-workers, members, parents, volunteers, and the community.

Summer Day Camp Program Staff
Make a difference in the life of a camper and spend an unforgettable summer working for Girl Scouts of Colorado! Guide, supervise and counsel elementary and middle school aged campers in outdoor program activities at various day camp locations across the Denver Metro area. Days at camp are filled with hiking, boating, outdoor skills, archery, Girl Scout outdoor badges, team building, camp games, singing and other activities.
