What you Need to Know: As a Biomedical Equipment Technician, you will work under close supervisor to repair, calibrate, and maintain all types of basic biomedical equipment, devices, instruments, and systems Inspect, install, and provide preventive maintenance of general biomedical equipment. Program Management and Engagement: DPMs are responsible for the implementation of the Disaster Cycle Services program in a territory in alignment with established metrics and may be assigned the following duties at the discretion of the region. Drivers for these additional responsibilities include the number of municipalities within its coverage area, the amount and complexity of program activity, presence of significant grant funding, geography, risk, population, frequency of events, and regional structure. • Manages volunteer recruitment and leadership identification Leads and supports ongoing volunteer recognition and engagement opportunities Serves in planning capacity in anticipation of larger response and recovery scenarios (this may include divisional coordination, multi-agency planning, and participation in local/regional/national deployment opportunities). Leads and/or assists with the implementation of training efforts, community preparedness opportunities, and the support to other American Red Cross stakeholders Represent part of a broader Disaster Cycle Services team within the American Red Cross that is prepared to mobilize in support of disaster events across the country. In support of this, the Disaster Program Manager must be prepared to assist in the mobilization and support of local resources (volunteers, equipment, and supplies), as well as potential deployment themselves to serve in a leadership capacity on a relief operation outside of their area of responsibility. Coordinates disaster mass care services, including feeding, sheltering, distribution of emergency supplies and reunification. At the American Red Cross, your uniqueness can shine! We are currently seeking a General Maintenance & Fleet Tech III to work at our Burlington Red Cross Blood Center in Burlington, VT. Offer includes a $1,500 sign-on bonus. Will require on-call responsibilities. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The Maintenance Tech III will provide customer service for Regional Fleet Management. Assist with the management of fleet operation for the Region. Manage the Regional Fleet Programs for motor vehicle registrations, operational and organizational maintenance, vehicle emergency safety equipment, issue, use, and inventory. Accountable for ARC gasoline and minor maintenance cards, enforcement of authorized use of ARC vehicle, vehicle sales, accident, recovery and claims, and formulation and compliance of fleet budgets. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Under limited supervision, the Maintenance Tech III will perform repairs and maintenance in the Biomedical facility, or on machines and equipment. The Maintenance Tech III typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Use blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Facility is 32,000 sq. feet. Also, will manage a fleet of 13 vehicles. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD: Maintain and repair organization's facilities and properties involving routine tasks and responsibilities. Correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems. Paint structures and equipment as needed. Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies. Repair appliances and equipment. Operate and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment. Estimate time and material costs of various projects. Requisition new supplies and equipment. Review maintenance records to identify recurring deficiencies; plan and implement corrective maintenance or repairs. May troubleshoot and repair all building HVAC related equipment. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED: Education: High School or equivalent required. May require a trade license. Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Related experience includes skill and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work is required. Skills & Abilities: May require a valid driver's license and clean DMV record. Must have basic writing and communication skills. May be required to have basic computer skills. May have on-call duties. Ability to work on a team. Travel: May drive vehicle to other locations. A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required. Physical Requirements: Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs. frequently; lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. with assistance or the use of a powered industrial truck. Frequently required to push carts weighing up to 250 pounds on flat flooring or ramps. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Able to move/lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and work with a variety of chemicals and solvents. Position may require climbing of ladders for top-level selection. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
