PURPOSE
The Relief Overnight Residential Youth Counselor works in a collaborative environment to support unaccompanied refugee and immigrant youth ages 16-20 at New Roads, and youth experiencing homelessness ages 7-17 at Youth Haven. Relief Overnight Residential Youth Counselors work intermittently to ensure care and supervision is provided 24/7 while assisting with youths’ homework, recreation time, and meals.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Provide care and supervision of youth, including performing regular bed checks and monitoring whereabouts; positively structures morning routines for youth by instructing and guiding youth in self-care tasks, including personal care, wake-up routines, and preparing meals according to posted menus.
Assist youth with establishing and achieving their goals, while modeling appropriate behavior and healthy relationships.
Record interactions, health and behavioral observation in youth charts, objectively taking note of activities or incidences, and filing charts according to the organization system.
Perform house laundry, dishwashing duties, and other chores to maintain a clean and healthy living environment; provides general sanitation support, including the cleaning of offices and restrooms.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum one year of experience in working or volunteering with youth.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must have a valid Washington State driver's license or be able to obtain one by date of employment.
Passion for working with youth and young adults ages 7-21.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences.
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Experience working or volunteering with refugee and/or immigrant youth.
Experience working with youth in foster care or experiencing homelessness.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Non-Bilingual starting rate of $17 per hour and Bilingual in Spanish starting rate of $17.50 per hour + $250 signing bonus*.
LOCATION & SCHEDULE
Relief staff can pick shifts from the available openings. Shifts are overnight, 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. Work is performed onsite/in-person.

PURPOSE
The Relief Residential Youth Counselor works on an intermittent or as needed basis to fill in a shift normally worked by a full time Residential Youth Counselor in our licensed residential programs for youth. The primary responsibility of the Relief Residential Youth Counselor is ensuring the safety, support and supervision of all youth in our staffed residential programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Maintain a comfortable living environment by demonstrating to youth that they are respected and understood as individuals; by demonstrating that adults can help them deal with challenging behaviors without being punitive, retaliatory, rejecting.
Responsible for the supervision and monitoring of all youth in the program and to be aware of their whereabouts at all times.
Maintain daily communication log, and milieu notes of youths’ whereabouts, activities and behavior for each youth.
Help youth develop appropriate and healthy relationships with peers and staff.
Report any known or suspected abuse, exploitation or neglect of youth in consultation with management to Child Protective Services.
Facilitate regularly scheduled groups and structured activities as requested.
Demonstrate acceptance of, and establish a positive relationship with each youth.
Assist youth with establishing and achieving their goals, while modeling appropriate behavior and healthy behavior.
Transport and accompany youth to appointments as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Social Sciences preferred.
Experience working with homeless youth and/or youth that are involved in the foster care system preferred.
Minimum of one-year full-time experience working or volunteering with youth.
