Job Purpose
The Assistant Director recruits, evaluates, and counsels prospective and admitted prospective students. Assistant Directors travel extensively (10-15 weeks annually), recruit and counsel prospective and admitted students for undergraduate admission, implement efficient and effective recruitment strategies, and manage assigned recruitment territories. Assistant Directors review applicants for undergraduate admissions and are essential to the day to day functioning of the Office of Admissions (including but not limited to presentations, phone and in personal counseling, and event programming). Assistant Directors have high level programmatic responsibilities. This Assistant Director position is permanently physically located within their assigned territory and works remotely.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required and at least 2 years of admissions experience. Priority given to applicants with previous supervisory experience (student or professional) and/or recruitment experience specific to northern New Jersey, the greater New York City Metropolitan area including Long Island, or Connecticut. An understanding of admissions procedures and the college selection process and an ability to work with diverse student populations is necessary. Ability to travel for extended periods of time. Strong planning, organizing, technology, and oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work cooperatively with other staff members and the college community. As a regional position, this Assistant Director must be a self-starter, able to work independently from remote home/office location while also functioning as part of the larger Charleston Admissions team. Must provide exemplary customer service and display enthusiasm about the College. Must be an independent decision maker, have high degree of integrity and communicate frequently with supervisors. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Must possess excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills. Must have considerable knowledge, skills, and ability in computer operations, data entry, Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to work closely with the other members of the admissions staff and across campus. Additional Comments Regarding Position
This position serves prospective students from Northern New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. *The position will be expected to work from a home office within this territory, ideally in the northern New Jersey or New York City metropolitan region. Remote positions are expected to travel to campus 4-6 times a year. Must be able to travel extensively. Must have a valid SC or other state driver’s license.
Evening and weekend work will be required. Ability to lift and carry 40 – 60 lbs. is necessary. Experience working with CRM software (especially admissions specific CRMs like Salesforce/TargetX, Slate, etc.) and Banner products is preferred but not required.

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in business, sports administration, marketing, communications, advertising, or another related field is required. The Associate Director recruits, evaluates, and counsels prospective and admitted prospective students. Associate Directors travel extensively (10-15 weeks annually), recruit and counsel prospective and admitted students for undergraduate admission, implement recruitment strategies, and manage assigned recruitment territories. Job Purpose
The Associate Director recruits, evaluates, and counsels prospective and admitted prospective students. Associate Directors travel extensively (10-15 weeks annually), recruit and counsel prospective and admitted students for undergraduate admission, implement recruitment strategies, and manage assigned recruitment territories. Minimum Requirements

An understanding of admissions procedures and the college selection process and an ability to work with diverse student populations is necessary. Ability to travel for extended periods of time. Strong planning, organizing, technology, and oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work cooperatively with other staff members and the college community. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must possess excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills. Must have considerable knowledge, skills, and ability in computer operations, data entry, Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to work closely with the other members of the admissions staff and across campus. Highly prefer candidates that adapt well to evolving technology.
Additional Comments Regarding Position
Must be able to travel extensively. Must have a valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one. Evening and weekend work will be required. Ability to lift and carry 40 – 60 lbs. is

Corporate Partnerships Strategy and Execution
Craft and execute an overall annual and long-term vision for Corporate partnerships, including strategies and campaigns for retaining and upgrading current donors, securing new donor investments, and strengthening pathways for Making Waves Academy and college students to pursue postsecondary opportunities
Conduct regular analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to inform ongoing priorities and adjust course where needed in order to ultimately meet ambitious annual goals aligned with organization OKRs and strategic plan
Funder Cultivation and Stewardship
Source, cultivate, and steward a portfolio of high-capacity corporations and foundations by developing and executing tailored cultivation and engagement plans
Develop and maintain fluency in Making Waves Education Foundation and Making Waves Academy programs and operations
Strategically leverage the CEO, Chief Development Officer, board members, and other senior leaders to steward and engage donors, including preparing these individuals for successful funder interactions
Compose tailored grant narratives, pitches, and employee engagement opportunities for high-stakes corporate and foundation donors, including reports, proposals, and donor correspondence
Collaborate with Making Waves Academy team to cultivate/steward current and prospective corporate and foundation funders
Maintain up-to-date donor records for relationships to ensure accuracy of account information, interaction history, and proposal/report submissions
Assess Bay Area corporate and foundation philanthropy landscape through research and prospecting databases, identifying and qualifying new and lapsed funders for outreach and cultivation efforts

Making Waves Education Foundation is an education nonprofit that students historically underserved and underrepresented to pursue college and career pathways that set them up for a thriving career, financial independence, and a choice-filled life.
We support Making Waves Academy (MWA), a 5-12 grade public charter school in Richmond, CA. After high school graduation, each of our students (we call them “Wave-Makers”) is invited to join our college success and early career program, where they can receive a need-based scholarship, one-to-one college coaching, and financial literacy training. Each year, we support over 1,200 5th – 12th graders and over 500 college students on their journeys to and through college. Corporate Partnerships Strategy and Execution
Craft and execute an overall annual and long-term vision for Corporate partnerships, including strategies and campaigns for retaining and upgrading current donors, securing new donor investments, and strengthening pathways for Making Waves Academy and college students to pursue postsecondary opportunities
Conduct regular analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to inform ongoing priorities and adjust course where needed in order to ultimately meet ambitious annual goals aligned with organization OKRs and strategic plan
Funder Cultivation and Stewardship
Source, cultivate, and steward a portfolio of high-capacity corporations and foundations by developing and executing tailored cultivation and engagement plans
Develop and maintain fluency in Making Waves Education Foundation and Making Waves Academy programs and operations
Strategically leverage the CEO, Chief Development Officer, board members, and other senior leaders to steward and engage donors, including preparing these individuals for successful funder interactions
Compose tailored grant narratives, pitches, and employee engagement opportunities for high-stakes corporate and foundation donors, including reports, proposals, and donor correspondence
Collaborate with Making Waves Academy team to cultivate/steward current and prospective corporate and foundation funders
Maintain up-to-date donor records for relationships to ensure accuracy of account information, interaction history, and proposal/report submissions
Assess Bay Area corporate and foundation philanthropy landscape through research and prospecting databases, identifying and qualifying new and lapsed funders for outreach and cultivation efforts
Contribute to important cross-functional projects
Serve as a member of the Leadership Team
Participate in organization-wide systems, processes, and rituals (e.g., annual and quarterly goal setting, employee engagement surveys, All Hands); commit to providing feedback to improve our work in the future.

KEY EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
What you’ve accomplished (required):
5+ years of experience in nonprofit leadership or institutional fundraising with a proven record of achieving ambitious goals
Prior experience working in K-12 education, external partnerships, or strategy highly preferred
Knowledge of Salesforce CRM preferred but not required

ABOUT MAKING WAVES EDUCATION FOUNDATION
Making Waves Education Foundation is an education nonprofit that students historically underserved and underrepresented to pursue college and career pathways that set them up for a thriving career, financial independence, and a choice-filled life.
We support Making Waves Academy (MWA), a 5-12 grade public charter school in Richmond, CA. After high school graduation, each of our students (we call them “Wave-Makers”) is invited to join our college success and early career program, where they can receive a need-based scholarship, one-to-one college coaching, and financial literacy training. Each year, we support over 1,200 5th – 12th graders and over 500 college students on their journeys to and through college. In 2020, Making Waves Foundation launched a new strategic plan to serve more students and families. The Paid Media Associate will support the campaigns team in their effort to produce, approve, and distribute ads, polls and other creative materials. The ideal candidate will utilize their attention to detail and organizational skills to closely track approvals and ensure projects are meeting deadlines and going through a standard approval process.
Responsibilities:
Manage review process for ads, mail, scripts, polls, and other creative materials for independent expenditure and issue advocacy campaigns, collaborating where appropriate with other departments, including the Government Affairs and Community & Civic Engagement teams.
Assist with the compliance and reporting of all electoral activities working with the Legal and Finance departments.
Assist in processing invoices and keeping budgets up-to-date.
Communicate with vendors and partners on the ad approval process and organize consultant team meetings, take notes, and communicate out action items as needed.
Develop and maintain tracking systems to organize and archive creative content.
Work with departmental staff to achieve annual racial justice and equity goals, including, but not limited to, analyzing spending and elevating justice and equity in all of our work.
Track candidates and races as assigned.
Travel up to 5% of the time for staff retreats, conferences, and professional development opportunities, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Work Experience: Required - Minimum of 1 year aggregate experience in administrative, compliance, or campaign setting (such as finance/fundraising; experience managing field operations; general campaigns operations experience.)
Preferred - Experience maintaining budgets. Experience tracking approval processes. Experience working within a nonprofit and/or political organization, or political campaign.
Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Excellent listener. Instinctually inclined to engage others while also being able to successfully drive a project to a timely conclusion. Passionate about protecting the environment and communities impacted by climate change and environmental injustice. Works well in a fast-paced environment and is able to multitask without sacrificing quality of work. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
