Responsibilities
The Learning Design, Development and Innovation Coordinator will advise leadership and curriculum development directorate on matters of online, graduate-level education instructional/learning design; online instructional technology integration; best practices in student-centered, online delivery and support systems spanning the full continuum of officer distance learning PME. The Coordinator will organize and manage a high-quality professional development continuum for all faculty associated with officer PME programs - as a minimum, focuses faculty development elements on adult, online education methodologies, state-of-the-art educational technology, and online instructional design best practices and techniques. Provides administrative support for functions and special projects as directed to include service on internal and external committees, providing advice as appropriate. Conducts research identifying innovative and emerging online instructional design and educational technology to include integration approaches in graduate-level educational programs. For this position, the individual also needs to have significant experience and/or education in the design, development, evaluation, and sustainment of gaming/simulations/VR for graduate-level education programs. As the gaming/simulation/VR lead or single designer, one will create and develop original game concepts or scenarios and improve upon existing games or simulations that enhance student engagement and interaction within graduate-level educational courses. One will collaborate with others and make recommendations to create original games/simulations and improve upon existing games/simulations. Understand the concepts and principles that make effective, engaging games; design and develop educationally sound games based on gaming best practices and concepts; and use knowledge of industry standard video game engines to create and oversee design and development of interactive games and simulations. As developer-oversight or a single designer, one will design, program, test, debug, document, and provide feedback/recommendations on computer simulation, game programs, or VR vignettes. Continually develop professional skills and knowledge in computer gaming and animation for graduate-level educational programs using industry-standard tools. There are no teaching load or student-advisory requirements required, but opportunities to teach electives are available. All teaching is on a voluntary basis with no min/max required. The average class size is ~20 students per class. Students are at the graduate level. Primary roles for this position include designing, developing, and assessing IAW local instructional-design process. List scholarship.
