Job Description

Elon University is currently accepting applications for an Instructional Technologist.  The position is part of an instructional technology team in Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) that supports the mission of the university by working with faculty and staff to identify and apply modern instructional technologies to advance Elon’s model of student and learning-centered higher education and to enhance and support strategic campus initiatives. The position provides expert guidance in the application of instructional technologies and provides consulting, training, and support in the use of both existing and emerging technologies.  Additionally, the Instructional Technologist for Training focuses on planning, organizing, and leading technology training, creating training materials and documentation, and providing support for university-wide productivity and academic software. The position works closely with campus partners to determine needs and develop programs that advance digital fluency and the modern workplace. The position will also serve as the TLT training/support contact for assigned university-wide technology rollouts. Teaching and Learning Technologies is part of the overall Information Technology organization at Elon. Master’s degree required in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Media, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design or similar field,  Two to four years of work experience in these areas, preferably in a higher education environment.  The successful candidate must have a demonstrated knowledge of supporting instructional technology tools and their use in teaching and learning. Requires outstanding communication and consultative skills and must be able to apply these skills with faculty and staff at all educational levels. Must be detail-oriented, have excellent time management and organizational skills, and be able to effectively lead and execute projects and initiatives. Must be able to work both independently and be a team player. A patient nature and the ability to work well with others are needed. Must be comfortable leading training sessions and speaking in front of large groups. Must be able to work with frequent interruptions, manage multiple projects, and learn independently.
