Pennsylvania Deputy Field Organizer (Multiple Locations)
THE ROLE:
NextGen America is seeking passionate and hardworking candidates to join our youth organizing program in Pennsylvania, working to engage young people in electoral politics by registering thousands of young people to vote across the state. NextGen is committed to engaging young people in Pennsylvania in the political process and increasing participation among 18-35 year olds. This role will be focused on organizing in one of several regions in Pennsylvania as part of this ambitious effort.
This role is available in the following locations:
Pittsburgh - University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University
Philadelphia - Temple University, Drexel University, University of Pennsylvania
State College - Pennsylvania State University
The primary work location for this role will be assigned at time of hire. This is an in-person position and you will be required to work on your primary campus according to the schedule laid out below.
In Pennsylvania, this effort will focus on organizing young people on campuses and the surrounding communities to bring progressive change to government through voting. Our work will engage young people in voter registration efforts, volunteer recruitment, and pledging young people to vote. Organizers need to be comfortable and confident in: mobilizing their own community, growing their network to include new volunteers to train, and motivating community leaders to help register and mobilize their own networks. Organizers are directly responsible for managing a team of volunteers in their region to hit weekly and phase metric goals.
This role reports to the Regional Organizing Director.

WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE:
Hit defined field goals, including voter registration, traditional grassroots voter contact, digital outreach, and event planning and turnout
Meet all data and field reporting deadlines
In-person organizing, including voter and community engagement at businesses, campuses and NextGen-sponsored events
Work with college administrations to increase civic participation and voter registration within the campus community
Implement a digital-forward organizing program that includes social media, direct outreach online, phone banking, text banking and creative tactics to reach voters where they are
Develop NextGen student clubs on campuses and work with student leaders to run these clubs and host events on campus and online
Develop relationships and partnerships with local community and student groups
Plan and host events within the community, on campus, and virtually
Recruit and train a local volunteer team that will organize their networks around voter registration drives and get out the vote efforts
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY:
This role has a structured schedule as defined in the collective bargaining agreement between represented field staff and NextGen. As with most jobs in field organizing, the schedule for this role will fluctuate based on the time of year. This position is a part time non-exempt position and the hours here are general expectations for what the time requirement will be to effectively complete your responsibilities. Applicants must have the willingness and ability to work the following schedule:
A work schedule consisting of approximately 3-5 hours per day, 3 days per week
General availability to work weekends
A high capacity work schedule during designated events (For example: campus welcome weeks, the weeks leading up to voter registration deadlines) consisting of approximately 3-5 hours per day, 4 days per week

Job Summary:
The Head of Regions is a member of 350.org’s Global Executive Team responsible for the overall strategic direction and leadership of the organization, and building an organizational culture, values and practices that are rooted in justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI).
We are embarking on a new organisational strategy that is shifting 350’s stance to not just campaign against fossil fuels, but also for the solutions to the climate crisis, with a focus on alternative energy systems that are not only powered entirely by renewable energy, but that provide affordability and access as well, and that are controlled and owned by and for people, not corporate profit.
The Head of Regions will be responsible for overseeing 350.org’s programmatic work in Asia, Pacific, Africa, North America, Europe and Latin America regions. This includes the development of strategies focused on regional campaigns, organizing, mobilization and movement support to achieve 350 Global Strategic Goals, as well as making sure that regional contexts and voices are elevated at the global level.
The Head of Regions will work hand-in-hand with the Head of Campaigning and Organizing and the Head of Public Engagement to share the responsibility of achieving our strategic goal of building a global movement rooted in regional contexts.
The Head of Regions will be supported by a Deputy Head of Regions and supervise all Regional Directors and the Deputy Head of Regions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As a member of the Global Executive Team, set and communicate 350.org’s overall strategic and operational direction and ensure alignment across the organization. Translate 350.org’s strategic goals and Theory of Change into department goals with clear and measurable key performance indicators.
Provide strategic alignment amongst regional team leaders on regional, national and local campaigns, organizing, mobilization, public engagement, and movement support, and ensuring cohesion and alignment with 350.org’s overall strategy, theory or change, and periodic goals.
Together with the Heads of Campaigning and Organising, and of Public Engagement, ensure that regional priorities are aligned with a Global Programme for 350 worldwide.
Support regional team leads in incubating, supporting and developing strategies and tactics for building a broader and more diverse base of partners, affiliates and supporters.
Support, coach and partner with regional team leads in developing change management practices.
Identify and support opportunities for professional development and growth of regional team leaders.
Support the development and implementation of regional strategies to help grassroots climate justice organizations build alliances, partnerships, and coalitions with other organizations to enhance their power and to achieve their goals. This includes resourcing, training and incubating leaders and 350 local groups.
Oversee and support the development of region-specific strategies and build models for dismantling the flow of financial and political support to the fossil fuel industry by shifting the overarching discourse on climate action.
Support operationalization of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion into program planning and benchmarks.
Develop strategies for integrated and regularized cross-regional collaboration and sharing of campaign best practice.
Partner with regional leadership to establish performance measures, monitor results and evaluate the effectiveness of the organisation’s regional programs.
Oversee the creation and management of the department's annual budget.
Minimum Requirements:
At least 10 years of experience in humanitarian or development work, climate justice, social justice, human rights or related work and 5 years of experience in analyzing emerging trends and opportunities, and building strategies and tactics for global and regional campaign, movement building and mobilization.
Strong experience working across multiple regions in the Global North and Global South with different operational contexts.
At least 8 years of experience in senior management or leadership roles.
A strong commitment to justice issues and commitment to ending the era of fossil fuels.
Proven track record of setting up and leading operations or programs in countries in the Global South and/or East Asia.
Demonstrated experience of working in high risk environments.
Experience in security management and risk assessments.
A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI), anti-racism or anti-oppression work. Ability to manage across differences and work effectively with people from diverse racial, ethnic, class, age, gender, and sexual orientation backgrounds.
Strong ability to think strategically and translate overarching strategies into department goals.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to cultivate and establish partnerships with colleagues, external partners, media and other stakeholders.

LCV is hiring a Deputy National Field Director who will support and oversee both non-electoral issue advocacy and federal coordinated electoral field programs. The Deputy National Field Director supports the National Field Director with the design and implementation of organizing programs, especially on program operations, including staff training and field plan and material development. This position will develop training sessions and manage operations for programs in partnership with the Deputy National Field Director, IE Field Director and National Field Director. The position collaborates with the Data and Analytics team to monitor program success and work with the broader team to achieve non-electoral and electoral goals. The position also works closely with the Campaigns’ issue organizing team, supporting the execution of organizing efforts advocating for just and equitable climate policy and will manage State Field Directors. The Deputy National Field Director works with state affiliate partners and coalition members on both issue and electoral efforts and will work closely with the Deputy National Field Director, IE Field Director to coordinate on issue advocacy campaign work.
Responsibilities :
Work closely with national LCV staff and state LCVs to develop and oversee the implementation of all organizing programs for issue campaigns that engage community members and advocate for just and equitable federal environmental policy priorities.
Work with LCV staff and state LCVs to develop and oversee the implementation of field components of coordinated field programs mobilization programs to increase turnout among youth and communities of color.
Manage and coach State Field Directors in the management of issue advocacy campaigns and member mobilization programs.
Develop and support implementation of remote and digital organizing tactics to educate and engage community members as volunteers.
Track and balance the budget for issue advocacy field programs and support tracking expenses for federal coordinated electoral campaigns.
Build and maintain relationships and regular communication with field vendors and consultants working in support of LCV field programs.
Develop and manage operations and administrative projects connected to the execution of field programs alongside LCV field program leadership team and consultants, including hiring materials, budget tracking, and training for organizing teams.
Develop training and support materials for issue organizing programs to build necessary skills and abilities of program staff to engage racially diverse communities and explain intersection of policies and racial and environmental justice.
Work with the Campaigns’ Analytics and Data team to set and track all metrics related to organizing activities and progress in meeting goals.
Ensure compliance and reporting of all field-related electoral activities working with the Legal and Finance departments.
Travel up to 30% of the time to meet with organizers, provide in-person training, and participate in other in-person program-related activities.

LCV is hiring a Deputy National Field Director who will support and oversee both non-electoral issue advocacy and federal coordinated electoral field programs. The Deputy National Field Director supports the National Field Director with the design and implementation of organizing programs, especially on program operations, including staff training and field plan and material development. This position will develop training sessions and manage operations for programs in partnership with the Deputy National Field Director, IE Field Director and National Field Director. The position collaborates with the Data and Analytics team to monitor program success and work with the broader team to achieve non-electoral and electoral goals. The position also works closely with the Campaigns’ issue organizing team, supporting the execution of organizing efforts advocating for just and equitable climate policy and will manage State Field Directors. The Deputy National Field Director works with state affiliate partners and coalition members on both issue and electoral efforts and will work closely with the Deputy National Field Director, IE Field Director to coordinate on issue advocacy campaign work.
Responsibilities :
Work closely with national LCV staff and state LCVs to develop and oversee the implementation of all organizing programs for issue campaigns that engage community members and advocate for just and equitable federal environmental policy priorities.
Work with LCV staff and state LCVs to develop and oversee the implementation of field components of coordinated field programs mobilization programs to increase turnout among youth and communities of color.
Manage and coach State Field Directors in the management of issue advocacy campaigns and member mobilization programs.
Develop and support implementation of remote and digital organizing tactics to educate and engage community members as volunteers.
Track and balance the budget for issue advocacy field programs and support tracking expenses for federal coordinated electoral campaigns.
Build and maintain relationships and regular communication with field vendors and consultants working in support of LCV field programs.
Develop and manage operations and administrative projects connected to the execution of field programs alongside LCV field program leadership team and consultants, including hiring materials, budget tracking, and training for organizing teams.
Develop training and support materials for issue organizing programs to build necessary skills and abilities of program staff to engage racially diverse communities and explain intersection of policies and racial and environmental justice.
Work with the Campaigns’ Analytics and Data team to set and track all metrics related to organizing activities and progress in meeting goals.
Ensure compliance and reporting of all field-related electoral activities working with the Legal and Finance departments.
Travel up to 30% of the time to meet with organizers, provide in-person training, and participate in other in-person program-related activities.
