Job Description
Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio is currently hiring for a Transportation Manager.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing transportation activities and establishing effective and efficient routing and the scheduling of vehicles for the purpose of assigned store deliveries., attended donation centers, and donor pickup.
Specific Experience/Skills/Abilities:
Five years of experience in transportation and logistics preferred.
Strong communication, coaching and organizational skills.
Management, supervisory, leadership ability.
Experience in flow of material in a warehouse environment.
Proficiency in computer applications, with experience in Excel and Word.
Ability to manage multiple projects to completion.
Knowledge in planning, budgeting, DOT regulations, shipping, and warehousing.
Customer service skills are essential.
Essential Functions:
Manages the performance of all direct-report employees while enhancing employee capabilities by providing training and fostering an environment of teamwork in the transportation and docks departments.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures while complying with legal regulations.
Plans, organizes, and manages the work of staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with department, customer, and overall agency requirements.
Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Develops transportation related relationships, monitors transport costs and works with vendors as well as internal and external customers to facilitate excellent customer service.
Responsible for the smooth and safe transportation activities in full compliance with all regulatory agencies, including the Department of Transportation (DOT) and OH Department of Motor Vehicles requirements.
Ensure safe operation of fleet vehicles, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
Monitor's spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
Consults with and maintains regular communication with the Director of Warehousing and Logistics regarding service audits and procurement of equipment and supplies.
Identify departmental equipment needs and maintenance issues and convey to Director of Warehousing and Logistics to ensure that all required vehicle maintenance is performed in a timely manner.
Always operate within company policies and procedures.
Package finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling), stage finished product for loading, load finished product onto trucks, unload raw materials from trucks and move raw materials to warehouse storage.
Conducts regular trainings with employees and ensure that all drivers are up to date in all DOT (Department of Transportation) and safety procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements:
High school diploma
Must have and maintain a valid Ohio CDL Class A driver's license and have a driving record.
Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends.
Able to safely lift/push/pull up to 75 lbs. periodically, to reach above-head level; full range of body motion with ability to stoop, bend, squat, grasp, handle, finger and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists and arms. Able to traverse a wide variety of physical environments without assistance including uneven surfaces and stairs. Able to stand/walk for long periods of time. Able to work outside during all seasons and in inclement weather. Able to read and understand equipment/equipment manuals and instructions.
