Job Summary
The employees occupying the positions of this class are responsible for performing and resolving technical and complex civil engineering tasks and problems within the framework of broad engineering and administrative guidelines within transportation. The Engineer I is an entry level engineer position in the Public Works Department. These employees operate from an office or in the field performing work under the supervision of an administrative supervisor. This is the first step in a career progression that continues to the Engineer II position and the Engineer III position. Engineer II employees work on more complex engineering tasks with less supervision and Engineer III employees manage the most complex engineering projects and are Certified Professional Engineers. The Engineer II position is the second step in a career progression that begins with Engineer I and ends with Engineer III. Engineer II employees perform tasks with limited supervision and require substantial use of independent judgment within the scope of advanced engineering assignments. Engineer I employees perform basic engineer work under the supervision of an administrative supervisor. Engineer III employees manage the more technical engineering projects and are Certified Professional Engineers. This transportation professional role is responsible for the review of land use and development engineering applications, plans, and reports for transportation concurrency, street and road standards. This position will be responsible to prepare transportation staff findings and presentations to the County hearings examiner regarding the required public improvements. Qualifications
Engineer I
Education and Experience:
• B.S. degree in Civil or related engineering.
- OR -
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years relative engineering work experience and possession of an E.I.T. certification.
Knowledge of: engineering principles, practices and the techniques and equipment involved; physical (hydraulics, mechanics, etc.) and mathematical (trigonometry, calculus, geometry, etc.) sciences and their application to engineering and field surveying computations and engineering design; construction materials, material testing and application; basic principles of supervision.

• High School diploma or G.E.D. and four (4) years relative engineering work experience to include a minimum of two (2) years experience in an Engineering I classification or equivalent and possession of an E.I.T. certification.

Clinical Laboratory Scientist Minimum Qualifications ($4,073 - $6,230)
A Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology;
OR
A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry AND one year of documented internship or experience in a clinical laboratory performing a variety of standard testing and examination procedures under general supervision in support of professional clinical or medical laboratory personnel.
NOTE: Must have current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) for either of the above options.
Medical Laboratory Technician 2 Minimum Qualifications ($3,398 - $5,148)
A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Microbiology;
OR
An Associate’s degree or at least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, including six semester hours of chemistry and six semester hours of biology;
AND
One year of Medical Laboratory Technician 1 level experience preparing reagents, testing media and stains, performing standardized laboratory tests, examinations, and occasionally assisting in more complex, specialized testing procedures;
AND
Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) accredited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program within the last five years;

Clinical Laboratory Assistant, American Society for Clinical Pathology, CLA (ASCP) certification;

Successful completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course;

A Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology;
OR
A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry AND one year of documented internship or experience in a clinical laboratory performing a variety of standard testing and examination procedures under general supervision in support of professional clinical or medical laboratory personnel.

Back up to primary analyst for ICPMS in prep and analyses.
May assist in the research and development of new methodology
Cross-train to backup primary nutrient analyst and general chemistry technicians in preparations and/or analyses.

Environmental Specialist 4 (goal class) (Salary Range 55: $4509-$5913 Monthly)
A total of Nine (9) years of experience and/or education as described below:
Professional level Experience in : environmental analysis or control or environmental planning. Experience may include:
Investigating and / or resolving complaints involving science or technology content
Performing inspections
Drafting technical evaluations and reports
Develops plans for researching information used for technical projects, regulatory or policy development
Plan and facilitate public meetings and hearings
Project work requiring specialized knowledge of industry processes, pollutant sources or natural processes
Providing technical assistance for complex scientific content and/ or support for implementing scientific content programs
Conducting tests, analyzing and evaluating data
Using environmental databases to support technical projects
Developing scientific studies and resource management plans
Providing environmental technical and administrative assistance to grant/ contract/ loan recipients of environmental protection projects
Experience must Include : One (1) year of the professional level experience in the operations and maintenance of air monitoring instrumentation or closely allied environmental sampling field to qualify at the ES 4 level.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
Must have a Driver's License.
Desired Qualifications: We highly encourage you to apply even if you do not have some (or all) of the desired experience below.
Experience testing, deploying, and analyzing data from low-cost air sensors and regulatory air monitors to characterize air quality.
Experience calibrating, maintaining, and operating air monitoring or similar analytical equipment.
Knowledge of electronics and pneumatics.
Extensive knowledge of 40 CFR Parts 50and 58
Previous experience interpreting and applying federal and state laws, regulations, rules, policy and guidance.
Previous experience using R or other data analysis software.
Ability to interpret and explain technical information to non-technical individuals.
