Job Description
Duties
- Ensures the availability of fire weather infrastructure within the geographic area.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates the management of the fire weather station network, the FDRS (Fire Danger Rating System), and other weather network or data systems within the Geographic Area.
- Serves as a member of the operational weather unit providing predictive services to the Geographic Area Coordination Center. Responsible for the operational weather equipment, systems, and data utilized in Coordination Center operations.
- Provides on-site meteorological services for wildfires and provides weather briefings, forecasts and warnings to on-the-ground operations, interagency fire management teams, and the public.
- Conducts periodic assessments with all wildland fire agencies to help define the direction of research activities.
