We achieve measurable change by conducting specific, science-based campaigns with fixed deadlines and clear goals. Our campaigns focus on getting policy changes in countries that, govern nearly one-third of the world’s wild-caught fish.

As a key member of the Science & Strategy team, the Marine Scientist helps develop the scientific foundation for our work on global fisheries and climate change, supports country offices, and prepares technical reports, to help achieve Oceana’s mission and drive our Save the Oceans, Feed the World initiative. The ideal candidate has a master’s degree in marine science or a related field and three years’ work experience (or equivalent qualifications) and has experience working and building relationships across different cultures and/or multiple disciplines/backgrounds. The Marine Scientist will serve as primary technical lead on fisheries and climate change, write, edit, and present materials for internal and external audiences, and contribute to the development of metrics for tracking progress in fisheries management and climate change mitigation and adaptation to support Oceana’s campaign goals.
