Job Purpose
Works with HVAC Technicians on duties related to installation, operation, maintenance & repair to heating, ventilating & air condition ( HVAC ) systems within large campus dormitories and buildings connected to the Central Energy Facility. This includes chilled water systems, steam heated hot water, steam condensate piping, and self-contained refrigerant systems. Assists HVAC Technicians with installing, operating, maintaining and repairing residential heating, ventilating and air conditioning units in smaller college buildings and dormitories, historical homes and office buildings. Duties include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment problems and making repairs as required.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma and experience in the HVAC trade is required. Must be willing to expand current knowledge on how to install, perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC equipment in residential, industrial and commercial applications. Must be willing to attend training. EPA certification preferred. Must be able to complete records and paperwork associated with repairs/installations. Knowledge of campus layout and buildings is preferred. Must have a valid SC Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, as the employee will be required to drive state vehicles to transport equipment and/or personnel as needed. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Must have knowledge regarding the handling of chemicals, refrigerants and industrial gasses. Considerable initiative and willingness to improve knowledge of HVAC equipment, tools, and work procedures used in HVAC equipment maintenance and repair. Must be able to anticipate, locate and correct general and emergency problems as related to HVAC /mechanical equipment maintenance and repair. Must be willing to improve understanding of the operation of computerized web-based HVAC control programs to monitor and adjust temperatures in campus buildings. Position requires basic computer skills and working knowledge and experience in using e-mail. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is preferred. Experience in utilizing online work order systems is a plus. Skill with electronic devices such as iPhone and iPad is preferred. Must be able to follow oral & written instructions. All employees at the College are expected to perform their jobs in a safe manner in accordance with best safety practices as prescribed by their department, the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration training as provided by Facilities Management at the College of Charleston.

Must be able to perform duties as described and work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Must be able to work in close quarters, climb ladders/stairs, enter/exit hatches, & work on rooftops. Must be able to work in areas of excessive heat/cold and lift or move furniture, objects, heavy components, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Overtime & call back work is required after normal working hours & on weekends as needed. May be required to be on campus prior to & immediately following all emergencies such as hurricanes, floods, snow/ice storms, etc.

Job Purpose
Maintains the grounds of a formally landscaped college campus and off campus sites (Patriot’s Point Athletic fields, Grice Marine Lab, Stono Preserve and Lockwood). Performs chemical applications, pond/water feature maintenance and general landscape maintenance. Other duties include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance such as policing the grounds, debris pickup, fertilizing, blowing walkways, weeding, pruning, unclogging drainage as needed, etc.
Minimum Requirements
High School diploma or GED and the ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions. Knowledge of commonly used landscape plants and irrigation systems helpful. Pesticide applications license is required. Job Purpose

Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma or GED , completion of a technical training program in a maintenance trade equivalent. A minimum of two years related experience and/or training (building or equipment maintenance); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record. Performs skilled duties related to installation, operation, maintenance & repair to heating, ventilating & air condition ( HVAC ) systems within large campus dormitories, historic houses and buildings connected to the Central Energy Facility. This includes chilled water systems, steam heated hot water, steam condensate piping, and self-contained refrigerant systems. Installs, operates, maintains and repairs residential heating, ventilating and air conditioning units in smaller college buildings and dormitories, historical homes and office buildings. Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma and professional HVAC trade experience is required. Must be experienced in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC equipment in residential, industrial and commercial applications. Job Purpose

This includes chilled water systems, steam heated hot water, steam condensate piping, and self-contained refrigerant systems. Duties include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment problems and making repairs as required.
Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma and professional HVAC trade experience is required. Must be experienced in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC equipment in residential, industrial and commercial applications. A valid SC driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, as the employee will be required to drive state vehicles to transport equipment and/or personnel. Must have EPA certification. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have knowledge regarding the handling of chemicals, refrigerants and industrial gasses. Should have considerable knowledge of HVAC equipment, tools, and work procedures, used in HVAC equipment maintenance and repair. The Senior Facilities Technician performs independent skilled journey level work in the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of facilities operating equipment and systems, performing related work as required. This work is completed independently, with complex problem solving required. Communications Technician (Field, Install & Repair) MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WHICH THIS POSITION IS ACCOUNTABLE:
Installs, maintains and/or repairs network facilities, and associated apparatus from the station equipment to the line card; performs other related duties.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Installs, removes, rearranges, programs, tests, troubleshoots and maintains voice, data, and ancillary equipment and network services.
Installs, maintains and repairs outside and inside plant equipment/facilities and inside wire.
Effects repairs and restores service outages. Performs cable pair recovery activity.
Interfaces with customers to further analyze installation and repair issues. Responds to inquiries and provide follow-up.
Interprets schematic work order drawings to determine job specifications and installation needs. Orders and/or obtains required equipment. Effects problem solving where appropriate.
Utilizes various test equipment to analyze equipment trouble and takes appropriate maintenance action.
Operates standard and aerial lift vehicles and manual, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, electronic, gasoline, propane and power-actuated tools and equipment.
May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work in confined areas.
Ability to lift and carry tool boxes, drop wire, parts containers and installation loads, test equipment, generators, manhole/pull box covers, etc.
Ability to climb poles/ladders.
Ability to lift, carry, set up, climb and take down ladders.
Ability to communicate naturally and pleasantly over the telephone and/or in person.
Ability to work under pressure in stressful conditions.
Requires alertness and attention to detail.
A valid driver’s license. Able to meet the medical and driver certification requirements as established by the DOT Federal Highway Safety Act. Not restricted to daylight hours.
Able to read and interpret architectural, electrical wiring diagrams.
Able to operate test equipment such as VOMs, test sets, etc.
Indoor-outdoor work. Exposed to adverse weather conditions, dust, noise, dirt, heat, poor lighting, fumes, etc.
Works in buildings being constructed/renovated, manholes, rough terrain, traffic, aerial lifts, platforms, etc.
May be exposed to high voltage electrical power lines, explosive and/or flammable liquids and gases, oxygen deficiency, carbon monoxide, lead toxicity and asbestos materials. May work with molten lead and wax.
Scheduled work tours may be weekday, weekend and holiday, including day, evening and night hours. Subject to scheduled and/or unscheduled overtime and call-out.
May be required to have experience in one or a combination of: Equipment Technician, Special Services Technician, Telecommunications Technician, T&P Technician, Cable Splicer, Systems Technician, Network Maintainer, I&R Technician, Cable Technician.
Must possess the ability to perceive differences in colors.
Must possess the ability to distinguish audible tones/levels.

EDUCATION:
