The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing a county-wide safety program to ensure safe work practices and compliance with regulations. Qualifications
Education and Experience:

Education:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in industrial engineering, occupational health studies, industrial hygiene, environmental studies, safety management, risk management, human resources, or a closely related field is highly preferred.
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in municipal risk management, occupational safety or other related field including accident investigation and analysis techniques. Training in basic first aid and CPR is required.
Knowledge of: Principles of accident prevention, industrial hygiene, and safety. Extensive knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations governing occupational safety and health, specifically but not limited to the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act (WISHA) and Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA). Training program and material development, including effective training techniques. Personal computer and applicable software used in analysis, program, and plan development.
Ability to: Interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Job Summary
The employees occupying the positions of this class are responsible for performing and resolving technical and complex civil engineering tasks and problems within the framework of broad engineering and administrative guidelines within transportation. The Engineer I is an entry level engineer position in the Public Works Department. These employees operate from an office or in the field performing work under the supervision of an administrative supervisor. This is the first step in a career progression that continues to the Engineer II position and the Engineer III position. Engineer II employees work on more complex engineering tasks with less supervision and Engineer III employees manage the most complex engineering projects and are Certified Professional Engineers. The Engineer II position is the second step in a career progression that begins with Engineer I and ends with Engineer III. Engineer II employees perform tasks with limited supervision and require substantial use of independent judgment within the scope of advanced engineering assignments. Engineer I employees perform basic engineer work under the supervision of an administrative supervisor. Engineer III employees manage the more technical engineering projects and are Certified Professional Engineers. This transportation professional role is responsible for the review of land use and development engineering applications, plans, and reports for transportation concurrency, street and road standards. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work in this classification is defined as heavy work requiring the physical exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Duties
What makes this role unique? Because underground storage tanks (USTs) are out of sight, people do not realize the threat they pose. Petroleum contamination represents the largest percentage of polluted sites in the state of Washington. The Environmental Inspector's role of preventing leaks from tanks is critical. This job is also the public face of Ecology, so excellent communication skills are required. What you will do:
Complete Underground Storage Tank (UST) inspections.
Conduct initial investigations in response to petroleum product spills.
Help owners and operators understand how to achieve compliance.
Work to help decommission outdated or non-functioning USTs.
Provide oversight on UST installations and retrofitting.
Respond to any UST complaints.
Take enforcement action(s) as necessary.

Duties
What makes this role unique? Because underground storage tanks (USTs) are out of sight, people do not realize the threat they pose. Petroleum contamination represents the largest percentage of polluted sites in the state of Washington. The Environmental Inspector's role of preventing leaks from tanks is critical. This job is also the public face of Ecology, so excellent communication skills are required. What you will do:
Complete Underground Storage Tank (UST) inspections.
Conduct initial investigations in response to petroleum product spills.
Help owners and operators understand how to achieve compliance.
Work to help decommission outdated or non-functioning USTs.
Provide oversight on UST installations and retrofitting.
Respond to any UST complaints.
Take enforcement action(s) as necessary.
Qualifications

Duties
What makes this role unique? As the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Specialist, you will have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a rapidly growing team helping to chart the path for how Ecology will reduce emissions of potent greenhouse gases affecting climate change. You’ll grow and learn valuable new skills while working with a wide range of individuals with diverse backgrounds – your Air Quality Program colleagues, as well as the businesses you’ll work with to become compliant with Washington’s regulations. What you will do:
Act as an agency technical compliance and enforcement specialist on hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and refrigerant technologies, including completing site visits.
Provide technical assistance to the regulated community on HFC restrictions, allowable alternatives, and new environmentally friendly technologies.
Support the rule-writing team as we complete the development of compliance protocols.
Take a leading hand in developing help documents and standardized procedures for inspecting facilities.
Help outreach staff to educate the regulated community as restrictions become effective, how to minimize leaks that emit climate pollutants, and how to use Ecology’s HFC reporting software.

Duties
What makes this role unique? As the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Specialist, you will have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a rapidly growing team helping to chart the path for how Ecology will reduce emissions of potent greenhouse gases affecting climate change. You’ll grow and learn valuable new skills while working with a wide range of individuals with diverse backgrounds – your Air Quality Program colleagues, as well as the businesses you’ll work with to become compliant with Washington’s regulations. If you derive satisfaction from working through complex situations to find implementable solutions, this position will be a great fit for you!
What you will do:
Act as an agency technical compliance and enforcement specialist on hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and refrigerant technologies, including completing site visits.
Provide technical assistance to the regulated community on HFC restrictions, allowable alternatives, and new environmentally friendly technologies.
Support the rule-writing team as we complete the development of compliance protocols.
Take a leading hand in developing help documents and standardized procedures for inspecting facilities.
Help outreach staff to educate the regulated community as restrictions become effective, how to minimize leaks that emit climate pollutants, and how to use Ecology’s HFC reporting software.
Qualifications
The goal class for this position is Environmental Specialist 3 (ES3) . We will also consider applicants who meet the requirements for the ES1 and ES2 levels. If the finalist meets the requirements for the ES1 or ES2 levels, they will be hired at that level and placed into a training program to become an ES3 within a specified period of time. Required Qualifications: Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, educational and volunteer experience. See below for how you may qualify.
At the Environmental Specialist 1 level: Salary Range 38 ($3,096-$4,117 monthly) (in-training) A total of four years of experience and/or education as described below:

Demonstrated knowledge of air quality and climate change science.
Previous experience or demonstrated knowledge of greenhouse gas (especially hydrofluorocarbon) state/federal reduction programs.
Ability to explain basic chemistry and regulatory processes to a variety of audiences and education levels.
Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation and conflict avoidance, and analytical skills.
