Training and Experience:

Stockroom procedures; Microsoft Word and Excel preferred; retail food sales practices and stock room procedures preferred.
Ability to:

Minimum Qualifications

Serves as the Title IX Coordinator for Students, and is responsible for the Student Conduct Code and student discipline.
Oversees the Student Services Office to include Evaluation and Testing, Make-up Testing/Testing Center, Advising and Orientation, Student Care Coordination, International Student Services/Study Abroad, Student Accessibility Services, Career Services, Veterans Services, and Student Activities.
Hires, supervises, and evaluates professional staff including the Associate Dean of Students, coordinators, advisors, and support staff.

Directs an enhanced academic assessment system to include but not be limited to ACCUPLACER, ALEKS, ACT, CLEP, FAA and other professional certifications.
Serves as a resource person for international student activities and diversity issues in the academic curriculum and co-curricular programming.
Oversees student identification card distribution and Food Pantry.
Administers the student grievance process to include serving as ombudsman for student concerns.
Liaison with local, state, and federal agencies and other educational institutions.
Responsible for Student Conduct issues and questions. Collaborates with Public Safety regarding student conduct concerns.
Establishes a student culture where diversity is encouraged and where students learn to respect differences, take responsibility for their actions, and exercise leadership.

Conducts, arranges, and manages the hearings for Final Grade Appeals, Academic Integrity Violation Appeals, and Student Conduct Code violations. Directs the Title IX investigatory process for students.
Interprets federal ADA and Section 504 regulations and formulates institutional policies and procedures for serving qualified students with disabilities.
Prepares Student Conduct and Title IX (Sexual Harassment) trainings for students. Creates class/program presentations to students along with Public Safety, Student Health Clinic, and local non-profit.
Collaborates with legal counsel on Student Conduct Code updates and issues as well as with Title IX -Sexual Harassment Code updates (or rewrite) and issues.
Establishes and maintains relationships with the community, legislative bodies, commissions, accrediting agencies while representing the college and student services.
Analyzes data to develop long-range plans, establish objectives, and improve plans in student services.
Participates on internal and external committees or advisory boards as assigned.
Serves on the President’s Leadership Committee.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, or related field.

Many of the individuals seeking services at the Highlandtown office have experienced multiple traumas. In addition to intimate partner/ sexual violence (IPSV), many have also experienced violence during the immigration process, violence in their home country, and community based violence that includes discrimination and hate crimes. These complex traumatic events shape how survivors interact with the people around them, and the Administrative Coordinator must be comfortable engaging traumatized people, who may present for assistance in a variety of emotional states and not always be clear about what they are seeking from us. The Administrative Coordinator engages visitors with sensitivity, with safety in mind, and assists visitors in getting to the right person to address their needs in an efficient and confidential manner. The Administrative Coordinator is also primarily responsible for the ensuring the day to day operations of the Highlandtown office site run smoothly, coordinating schedules for coverage, site and community events; managing the use of spaces on site; interacting with vendors; and managing the food pantry logistics. Job Summary
The Career Pathway Specialist works with students enrolled in English Language Learning (ELL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Completion (HSC), and Integrated Education and Training (IET) classes in the Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program at the Hawkeye Community College Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center. Provides advising for students on educational and career goal setting and jointly develops educational plans consistent with students’ career/life goals and objectives. Coordinates and delivers educational and career activities/workshops individually and to groups. Provides case management to assist students in addressing barriers to program attendance and education/employment success.
Essential Job Functions
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Advises students regarding career pathways, goal setting and clarification, and employment preparation and readiness.
Collaborates with staff to identify and create processes necessary to provide comprehensive intake, advising, career exploration, and case management for students.
Assists with collection of intake information and provides one-on-one assistance to students throughout the intake process.
Works with a diverse population of non-native English-speaking adult students.
Collaborates with the team to develop, deliver, and modify program orientation for all students.
Jointly develops educational/vocational plans with students and modifies plans as appropriate. Manages student progress through individual appointments and in group settings.
Provides career exploration opportunities for students individually and in group settings.
Develops, organizes, and conducts group workshops, presentations, and skills assessments.
Stays current, conveys, and ensures compliance with AEL program, college, and state/federal Department of Education requirements, policies, and procedures.
Ensures student connection to supportive wrap-around services both onsite and through community resources and agencies.
Maintains necessary records and documentation and prepares statistical reports.
Attends professional development to stay current on research involving adult education, student success, and retention.
Analyzes assessments for student advising.
Serves on internal and external committees.
Remains actively involved in recruitment and retention committees.
Coordinates and maintains student food pantry.
Serves as a positive voice to community groups about AEL students.
Attends meetings with community and college groups as needed.
Performs other related professional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, social work, or closely related field.
One-year applicable work experience in education, educational counseling, human services, or career counseling.
Demonstrated ability in strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work and interact effectively and courteously with diverse staff, students, and general public.
Demonstrated ability to work innovatively, individually as well as in teams.
