Mapmakers once drew Dragons to represent lands unknown. Going Where There Be Dragons is to explore beyond the edge of your map. When we engage the unfamiliar, we rediscover ourselves and the world, charting paths to an expanded horizon. Dragons mission is to cultivate meaningful connections through immersive and responsible travel. Our vision, ultimately, is to foster a more compassionate, just, and inclusive world. Dragons has offered immersive and responsible Gap Year and Summer Abroad programs in Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the USA for nearly 30 years. Engaging as travelers, not tourists, programs give students the rare opportunity to genuinely experience the places they travel and meaningfully connect across cultures. Each small-group program is custom crafted by expert instructors and combines 9-hands on program components such as homestay, trekking, and language learning. With Dragons, students gain new perspectives, knowledge, and skills needed to be more active and resilient participants in the world. In the field of experiential education, Dragons instructors set the industry standard: they are mature, well-educated, resourceful, responsible and deeply knowledgeable. They are committed educators who are intent on providing the most meaningful cross-cultural experiences, as well as the deepest experience of personal learning, reflection and growth. When not guiding with Dragons, our instructors are graduate students, returned Peace Corps Volunteers, U.N. development professionals, veteran guides, social activists, and career teachers - all of whom share a passion for exploration, adventure, and hands-on learning through authentic, low-impact travel experiences.
