Job Description

Position: Social Media Coordinator

Reports To:  Director of Marketing and PR

 

Position Summary:  

The Social Media Coordinator assists in the execution of the Aquarium’s social media marketing and communication efforts. The successful candidate will work closely with the Marketing team to develop and implement strategies and social media content to increase brand awareness, engage our audience, and drive traffic to the Aquarium website. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level candidate to kick-start their career in social media marketing and contribute to sharing the Aquarium’s mission of inspiring people to explore, discover, and learn about earth’s diverse ecosystems.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.  
  • Basic familiarity with social media platforms and content creation
  •  Strong written verbal communication skills with keen eye for detail
  •  Familiarity with social media management tools such as Hootsuite or Sprout Social a plus
  •  Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software is desirable but not required
  •  Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Eagerness to learn and grown in the field of social media marketing

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.

  • Positive attitude, detail, and customer-oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability. 
  •  Ability to think both creatively and strategically. 
  •  Creative thinker with the ability to generate engaging content ideas
  • Responds well under pressure. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  •  Supports Marketing and PR Specialist in planning, strategizing, and implementing social media campaigns
  •  Create and curate engaging content for various social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
  •  Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions across all social media channels in a timely manner.
  •  Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm new ideas and strategies to improve our social media presence.
  •  Track and analyze social media metrics and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-driven recommendations for optimization.
  •  Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in social media marketing and implement innovative strategies to keep our content fresh and engaging.
  •  Support in creating and maintaining a social media content calendar to ensure consistent posting and messaging.
  •  Assist in the coordination of influencer partnerships and outreach efforts.
  •  Help manage social media advertising campaigns and budgets under the guidance of senior team members.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall marketing objectives of the company.

 

Physical Demands of the Job:  

  • This opportunity requires long periods of standing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, and walking
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to weather conditions and the noise level is usually moderate
