Pacific Northwest Research Institute (PNRI) is seeking an experienced EHS and Biosafety Officer to join our team. The EHS and Biosafety Officer is responsible for managing all PNRI Health and Safety programs, including radiation safety, hazardous waste management and disposal, spill response, animal safety, and workplace safety. The EHS and Biosafety Officer provides active support to PNRI’s IBC and IACUC. Working closely with building Facilities, the EHS and Biosafety Officer assures compliance with WISHA, OSHA, DOT, and all relevant regulations. Reporting to the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer, this critical role proactively identifies and mitigates health and safety risks within PNRI and ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including maintaining all registrations, licenses, and permits concerning the environmental health and safety of the Institute.

Ensures PNRI’s animal facilities are in compliance with applicable regulations, statutes, and PNRI policies in coordination with IACUC and Facilities; serves as a member of the IACUC.
Ensures PNRI’s use of biological agents are in compliance with applicable regulations, statutes, and PNRI policies in coordination with IBC and Facilities; serves as a member of the IBC.
Compliance/Enforcement
Ensures compliance with sewer disposal guidelines.

Position Overview
The Executive Director is the Association’s executive staff administrator and management agent who leads the staff, in coordination with the KNEA President, to ensure the implementation of the full scope of policies, procedures, and programs approved and adopted by the KNEA Board of Directors. In collaboration with the President and Officers, the Executive Director develops and manages an Operational Plan and an annual Operational Budget and is accountable to the Board for the long-term financial and fiscal health and sustainability of the Association.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Management - advise and facilitate the development of the KNEA Operational Plan, Operational Budget, administer and monitor the budget, ensure the fiscal health of the Association, oversee compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, evaluate and manage risk, and ensure the proper management of all property owned and leased by the Association as KNEA pursues its mission and vision.
Public Education Advocacy – champion public education in Kansas, including building collaborative relationships between KNEA and external stakeholders to shape the highest professional standards for education policy.

Full-Time Non-Exempt Position
40 Hours Weekly, Monday-Friday 8:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. with an additional rotational on-call schedule that includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Typically for this position, as we have on-call nurses that work weekends and weeknights, the on-call would be limited. Holidays are rotated and divided up between the team.

Requires physical flexibility of bending at knee and squat-bend. The Staff Registered Nurse manages stress appropriately, makes decisions under pressure, handles multiple priorities, works with an Interdisciplinary Team and manages anger/fear/hostility/violence of other appropriately. This position requires clarity of vision >20 inches and <20 feet, hears alarms, telephone/tape recorder.
Working Conditions : The Staff Registered Nurse/Case Manager spends approximately 20% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposure to excessive humidity and noise. The remaining 80% of his/her time is spent in an automobile or patient home, which may or may not have heat/air conditioning. The position has potential for exposure to malodorous odors, infectious body fluids from patients, animal pet hair, allergens in the home environment, some exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents, and exposure to communicable diseases and traffic.
Essential Functions of the Field Staff RN/Case Manager Position
Maintains a caseload of patients. Oversees the direction and coordination of the patient’s care and the care provided for their caregiver/family.
Provides direct patient care that includes all aspects of the nursing process, including participation of on-call after hours care.
Demonstrates basic registered nurse clinical skills. Gives a practical exhibition and explanation at the required annual skills day.
On each visit completes a physical assessment, medication review, and a symptom and pain evaluation. Communicates findings to the hospice physician and obtains orders to manage care.
Communicates pertinent information to all disciplines by communicator, telephone, TigerText, and at the IDT meeting.
Reviews and updates the Plan of Care (POC) on each visit.
Responsible for initiating the Hospice Aide (HA) POC and supervising visits at least every 14 days per Medicare regulation.
Knowledgeable in patterns of disease progression at end of life and provides ongoing patient/family/caregiver education.
Knowledgeable in principles of end of life pain and symptom management. Considers patient/family/caregiver stated values and goals when considering treatment options ensuring their patients are as pain-free and symptom-free as possible.
Identifies the physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs related to the terminal illness. Collaborates with IDT to meet those needs.
Documents the elements of each assessment in a systematic and timely manner according to the Policies and Standards of Performance.
Oversees the activity of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) as they provide patient care.
Participate in on-call after-hour care. In the on-call role, the Staff Registered Nurse/Case Manager triages calls and demonstrates critical thinking skills as they prioritize and address each situation.
In an emergency/crisis event, the Staff Registered Nurse/Case Manager demonstrates the ability to take control of a situation, understands and prioritizes care needs, and executes a plan quickly.
Provides emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial support to patients/family/caregivers. Establishes a therapeutic relationship with the patient/family/caregiver.
At the IDT meeting, at least every 15 days, the Staff Registered Nurse/Case Manager shares new information concerning the patient’s disease progression, discuss how to further improve the patient’s quality of life and comfort, and ensures that the care plan is consistent with the patient’s end of life core wishes.
Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment to ensure deadlines, goals, and objectives are met.
Demonstrates the ability to embrace change, manage stress and maintain a positive attitude.

40 Hours Weekly, Monday-Friday 8:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. with an additional rotational on-call schedule that includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Working Conditions : The Staff Registered Nurse/Case Manager spends approximately 20% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposure to excessive humidity and noise. Essential Functions of the Field Staff RN/Case Manager Position
Maintains a caseload of patients. Oversees the direction and coordination of the patient’s care and the care provided for their caregiver/family.
Provides direct patient care that includes all aspects of the nursing process, including participation of on-call after hours care.
Demonstrates basic registered nurse clinical skills. Gives a practical exhibition and explanation at the required annual skills day.
On each visit completes a physical assessment, medication review, and a symptom and pain evaluation. Communicates findings to the hospice physician and obtains orders to manage care.
Communicates pertinent information to all disciplines by communicator, telephone, TigerText, and at the IDT meeting.
Reviews and updates the Plan of Care (POC) on each visit.
Responsible for initiating the Hospice Aide (HA) POC and supervising visits at least every 14 days per Medicare regulation.
Knowledgeable in patterns of disease progression at end of life and provides ongoing patient/family/caregiver education.
Knowledgeable in principles of end of life pain and symptom management. Considers patient/family/caregiver stated values and goals when considering treatment options ensuring their patients are as pain-free and symptom-free as possible.
Identifies the physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs related to the terminal illness. Collaborates with IDT to meet those needs.
Documents the elements of each assessment in a systematic and timely manner according to the Policies and Standards of Performance.
Oversees the activity of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) as they provide patient care.
Participate in on-call after-hour care. In the on-call role, the Staff Registered Nurse/Case Manager triages calls and demonstrates critical thinking skills as they prioritize and address each situation.
In an emergency/crisis event, the Staff Registered Nurse/Case Manager demonstrates the ability to take control of a situation, understands and prioritizes care needs, and executes a plan quickly.
Provides emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial support to patients/family/caregivers. Establishes a therapeutic relationship with the patient/family/caregiver.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: We are looking for a full-time Technologist to work in our Reference Lab performing specialized testing to serve our local hospital clients. Extensive training (4 - 6 months) will take place on day shift, Monday - Friday. As an IRL Technologist at the Red Cross you will perform basic and advanced donor and patient tests, and interpret results to determine donor-recipient compatibility. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD: Resolving compatibility problems Providing complex reference and consultation services to hospitals and transfusion services Performing automated and manual test procedures on blood samples Managing receipt, coordination, shipment and transport of patient and donor blood samples and documenting supply and equipment problems Managing reagent inventory (ordering, receiving, inspection and preparation) Recognizing/resolving testing irregularities and assisting other Medical Technologists in problem resolution. Consulting with staff at other medical facilities, to resolve complex serologic problems and providing special units to transfusion recipients Performing maintenance, repair and validation of laboratory equipment and software Maintaining accurate records Performing manufacturing duties associated with special blood products, if applicable Assuming lead responsibilities such as record review and training; assisting in concern management Shift: 2nd Shift with rotating weekends and on call. Pay Information: Starting rate $35 per hour. This position is represented by a union contract. Sign-On Bonus: $7,000.00 WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCEED: MT(ASCP) or BB(ASCP) /equivalent , bachelors degree with major in biological science or chemistry plus 3 years blood banking experience, or MLT (ASCP) certification plus 5 years laboratory experience required. Meet the quality and quantity production and testing goals established by the department, and appropriately manage any exceptions. Prioritize workload to meet production and customer requirements. Tracks the quantities and results of QC testing performed to meet ARC and regulatory requirements. Participate in QC staff training and QC projects; may serve as a project lead Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities with cross-functional teams. Standard Schedule: This is a second shift position 5pm-3am working four 10 hour days rotating Monday-Sunday. Pay Information: The pay rate for this position is $28.75 per hour.
