Purpose Reporting to the Head of Printed & Published Media and Metadata Services, the Metadata Specialist engages in metadata analysis, remediation and/or enhancement to support improved discovery, access, and accurate representation of the Ransom Center's collections in a manner that is respectful to the individuals and communities who create, use, and are represented in them.
Success in this position requires a combination of analytical skills, creative thinking, and eagerness to experiment and learn new tools for problem solving and efficiency gains.
Responsibilities
Works collaboratively with the Unit Head to analyze legacy and newly created descriptive metadata distributed in different systems (QI, CONTENTdm, Alma/Primo, SQL databases) encoded in different formats and metadata schemas (MARC, EAD, Dublin Core, etc...) for quality, consistency, completeness and adequacy to facilitate coherent aggregation with other data and display on the Center’s Website
Performs activities in support of controlled vocabularies and entity management workflows, including reconciliation with external data sources (LCNAF, VIAF, ULAN, SNAC, Wikidata)
Participates in the Unit standards discussion meetings and contributes to documentation development and maintenance efforts
Communicates with metadata stakeholders, including colleagues from the Technical and Digital Services Division, the Research Services Division and Curatorial Services, providing input for appropriate meetings and committees as needed
Takes part in professional development activities, including attending workshops, webinars, and conferences, to stay informed of evolving cataloging trends, and changes in best practices and standards
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a field relevant to the position
Experience managing metadata, including data standardization, remediation, mapping, and repurposing metadata for reuse
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data cleanup and transformation tools such as OpenRefine
Experience working with APIs
Knowledge of entity management and linked data principles
Demonstrated ability to conduct research to aid in metadata analysis and remediation
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to communicate and document complex technical issues

What is a Volunteer Support Specialist?
The Volunteer Support Specialist is responsible for duties relating to the onboarding and retention of volunteers and girl members. What is an On-Call Maintenance Specialist? The Maintenance Specialist Assists in the care and maintenance of assigned property in an on-call and year-round basis.
This role also works with the entire camp team to deliver services and maintain the site in a safe working order at Tomahawk Ranch, a Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO) camp property. Additionally, this role supports the hospitality, operational, program, health, & cabin leadership team as needed as part of the Tomahawk Ranch team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Camp Facility Responsibilities
Assists with property security practices & procedures.
Assists in the care for and maintenance of camp facilities, grounds including roads & fences, property & program equipment, and machinery are in safe, well-functioning, working, and clean condition.
To help reduce the level of risk, ensures that all safety-related projects/needs are completed in a swift and timely manner and helps prepare facilities for changing weather conditions.
Responsible for performing various skilled trade tasks for facility maintenance and construction projects.
Cross Functional Work
Supports care of livestock, providing feeding, and daily chores.
Assists with the delivery of equipment, machinery, luggage, and various materials when needed.
Deliver emergency support during on-site incidents.
Provide and support safe and healthy practices.
In coordination with the camp team, facilitate camper program delivery, check-in & check-out procedures, orientation, and other operational logistics.
Assist with the management of site and program equipment, including storage, care, inventory, and maintenance.
Provide additional support as necessary to facility staff, camp team, kitchen, and housekeeping staff members.
Administration
Manage administrative responsibilities in a timely, independent, and detail-oriented manner.
Participate in regular staff meetings and training for planning purposes, communication resolutions, and carrying out assignments.
Provide & participate in staff feedback forms as necessary for the camp's overall strategic planning.

What is an On-Call Maintenance Specialist? The Maintenance Specialist Assists in the care and maintenance of assigned property in an on-call and year-round basis.
This role also works with the entire camp team to deliver services and maintain the site in a safe working order at Tomahawk Ranch, a Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO) camp property. Additionally, this role supports the hospitality, operational, program, health, & cabin leadership team as needed as part of the Tomahawk Ranch team. A primary function of this, and every other job at the Tomahawk Ranch, is to ensure that each member, guest and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.

Assists with property security practices & procedures.

To help reduce the level of risk, ensures that all safety-related projects/needs are completed in a swift and timely manner and helps prepare facilities for changing weather conditions.

Manage administrative responsibilities in a timely, independent, and detail-oriented manner.
Participate in regular staff meetings and training for planning purposes, communication resolutions, and carrying out assignments.
Provide & participate in staff feedback forms as necessary for the camp's overall strategic planning.

What is an On-Call Membership Specialist?
The on-call Membership Support Specialist supports the recruitment and retention of Girl Scout volunteers and members through program delivery and logistic support of recruitment events.
They are responsible for attending community-based events where they will promote Girl Scouts, answer questions about the program, and facilitate basic activities. This position will collect contact information for prospective members and volunteers and connect them with the local Program and Membership Experience team.

What is an On-Call Membership Specialist?
The on-call Membership Support Specialist supports the recruitment and retention of Girl Scout volunteers and members through program delivery and logistic support of recruitment events.
They are responsible for attending community-based events where they will promote Girl Scouts, answer questions about the program, and facilitate basic activities. This position will collect contact information for prospective members and volunteers and connect them with the local Program and Membership Experience team.
The on-call Membership Support Specialist will have access to a monthly listing of work opportunities including but not limited to recruitment events, program events, and general office and administrative work.
The on-call Membership Support Specialist will work no more than 10 hours per month.

For the past several years, we have focused our efforts on eliminating battery cages by securing cage-free policies from major retailers, restaurants, and manufacturers. We specialize in institutional campaigning, a strategic approach that can be tailored to our members’ unique circumstances and challenges. It also pays off; in the past year alone, OWA groups secured 23 global cage-free policies and over 160 regional cage-free policies.
As the Digital Campaign Action Specialist, known internally as the Global Campaign Mobilization Specialist, you play an integral role in supporting global and regional campaigns through the management of the action app, a web-based application which enables supporters to take digital campaign actions. You will work closely with the Global Campaigns team to set up impactful actions that contribute to campaign victories, and you will develop and carry out a plan for mobilizing supporters around the world, including regional segmentation and supporter-building initiatives. You will also lead, train, and support OWA members in their use of the action app.
You are ideal for this position because you have excellent technology skills and attention to detail, which will enable you to effectively leverage our in-house advocacy platforms. You are familiar with social media and possess the organization and communication skills needed to mobilize OWA member organizations. This position reports directly to the Senior Global Corporate Campaigns Manager.
This is a temporary, full-time, remote position . The temporary hire will provide coverage while a permanent staff member is on leave. The Spill Prevention, Preparedness, and Response Program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Spill Responder (Environmental Specialist 3) position. This position is located in our Central Region Office (CRO) in Union Gap, WA . Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. From industrial facilities to illegal drug labs to sunken boats, our work to stop releases of hazardous materials to the environment is unique and challenging. In this position, you will respond to oil and HAZMAT spills, safely manage dangerous waste, provide training, and develop local response partnerships. You will collaborate with law enforcement, fire service, other environmental agencies, Tribes, and other partners. Our focus on relationships builds opportunities for environmental protection as well as personal growth. Please Note: This position is required to serve as a duty officer for an after-hours, on-call pager duty on a regular rotation. Upon completion of the required training and successful medical surveillance baseline examination, the candidate will be assigned to the Emergency Spill Response Team and will be eligible for a 10% assignment pay . Likewise, Spill Responders are periodically required to be on call outside of scheduled work hours and are paid an hourly Standby Rate of 7% of the regular hourly rate . Also, if you work on a response activity outside of your scheduled work hours, you will receive Responder Pay of 150% of your regular hourly pay. Duties
What makes this role unique?
In this role, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team and use science to solve complex environmental and public health challenges. Working with other federal, state, local, and Tribal response partners, spill responders serve as Ecology’s State On-Scene Coordinator leading the response and cleanup of complex environmental spills. The most challenging aspect of the work is coordinating with others under stress. However, every response is a new opportunity to collaborate with partner agencies and impacted citizens. You will use skill and empathy to mitigate stresses so that everyone involved is able to perform at their best and get the job done safely. What you will do:
Conduct responses to spills of oil and HAZMAT, abandoned waste, fish kills, pressurized cylinders, illegal drug manufacturing facilities, and other environmental and human health emergencies.
Under supervision, conduct operations to control, contain, and cleanup spills, and investigate their cause.
Under supervision, perform hands-on cleanup actions at oil and HAZMAT spills and illegal drug manufacturing facilities.
As State On-Scene Coordinator, oversee cleanup actions of spillers and their contractors.
Complete detailed documentation of response actions.
Complete ongoing training related to growth and competence as a Spill Responder.
Ensure safe and appropriate management of dangerous wastes generated as part of emergency oil and hazmat cleanup activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Years of required experience indicated below are full-time equivalent years. Full-time equivalent experience means that any experience where working hours were less than 40 hours per week will be prorated in order to meet the equivalency of full-time. We would calculate this by looking at the total hours worked per week, divide this by 40, and then multiply by the total number of months worked. Examples of the proration calculations are:
30 hours worked per week for 20 months: (30/40) x 20 months = 15 months full-time equivalent
20 hours worked per week for 12 months: (20/40) x 12 months = 6 months full-time equivalent
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, education, and volunteer experience. See below for how you may qualify.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license and maintain the license throughout employment.
Must pass employment medical surveillance physical and demonstrate the ability to wear respiratory protection and chemical protective clothing. Must successfully pass physical agilities test.
Must maintain a personal level of fitness necessary to successfully pass periodic medical surveillance exams, which may include a stress test, as detailed in the Spill Response Procedures.
Must be able to clear a detailed background check required to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Must hold and maintain eligibility and certification (valid passport or enhanced driver’s license) to permit travel to Canada in the event of a transboundary spill.
Must successfully complete initial SAFETRAC requirements and other required training outlined in the Spills Program Policy and Procedures Manual within 6 months of entering the position.
Must be prepared for a minimum 3-day field deployment within 1 hour of notification.
This position is identified as an Essential Agency Employee and is expected to work during facility closures and natural disasters.
This position is required to perform after-hours on-call duty on a rotation.
Assess Threats to Worker Safety & Perform Field Duties in a Safe Manner – Safety of workers and the public is the first priority of spill response positions. You will receive SPPR Program safety training and demonstrate understanding and performance of safe field operations. Threats to worker safety may include physical, chemical, biological hazards of materials; traffic; site conditions; weather; and threats posed by animals or contentious people at a work site.
Hazardous Materials Management – Accurate assessment of hazards from chemicals involved in environmental incidents is critical to the effective performance of this position. You will receive the training and equipment to perform this competency. The Spill Prevention, Preparedness, and Response Program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Spill Responder (Environmental Specialist 3) position. This position is located in our Central Region Office (CRO) in Union Gap, WA . Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. From industrial facilities to illegal drug labs to sunken boats, our work to stop releases of hazardous materials to the environment is unique and challenging. In this position, you will respond to oil and HAZMAT spills, safely manage dangerous waste, provide training, and develop local response partnerships. Please Note: This position is required to serve as a duty officer for an after-hours, on-call pager duty on a regular rotation. Duties
What makes this role unique?
In this role, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team and use science to solve complex environmental and public health challenges. Working with other federal, state, local, and Tribal response partners, spill responders serve as Ecology’s State On-Scene Coordinator leading the response and cleanup of complex environmental spills. The most challenging aspect of the work is coordinating with others under stress. However, every response is a new opportunity to collaborate with partner agencies and impacted citizens. You will use skill and empathy to mitigate stresses so that everyone involved is able to perform at their best and get the job done safely. What you will do:
Conduct responses to spills of oil and HAZMAT, abandoned waste, fish kills, pressurized cylinders, illegal drug manufacturing facilities, and other environmental and human health emergencies.
Under supervision, conduct operations to control, contain, and cleanup spills, and investigate their cause.
Under supervision, perform hands-on cleanup actions at oil and HAZMAT spills and illegal drug manufacturing facilities.
As State On-Scene Coordinator, oversee cleanup actions of spillers and their contractors.
Complete detailed documentation of response actions.
Complete ongoing training related to growth and competence as a Spill Responder.
Ensure safe and appropriate management of dangerous wastes generated as part of emergency oil and hazmat cleanup activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Years of required experience indicated below are full-time equivalent years. Full-time equivalent experience means that any experience where working hours were less than 40 hours per week will be prorated in order to meet the equivalency of full-time. We would calculate this by looking at the total hours worked per week, divide this by 40, and then multiply by the total number of months worked. Examples of the proration calculations are:
30 hours worked per week for 20 months: (30/40) x 20 months = 15 months full-time equivalent
20 hours worked per week for 12 months: (20/40) x 12 months = 6 months full-time equivalent
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, education, and volunteer experience. See below for how you may qualify.

80-hour HAZWOPER Technician Certification is required meeting the Hazardous Materials Specialist requirements in WAC 296-824 and 296-843 (can be obtained after hire). Current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher certificate is also required (can be obtained after hire).

Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license and maintain the license throughout employment.

Health Benefits : Employees may elect medical, dental, vision & life insurance plans.
Simple IRA : Employees may choose to make salary reduction contributions through HHC’s Simple IRA plan and HHC will match the employee’s contribution up to a maximum of 3% of the employee’s annual salary.
Vacation : Upon hire, employees earn 4.62 hours of vacation per paycheck up to 120 hours (3 weeks) in a year. Accruals are adjusted to increase vacation earned per hours worked based on length of employment with HHC.
Holidays : HHC observes twelve (12) holidays throughout the year. Salaried employees are paid for these holidays according to the nationally recognized observation day for each holiday. In addition, salaried employees are currently gifted the week of Christmas off, to be scheduled at the discretion of their supervisor.
Sick Leave : HHC provides eligible employees with Paid Sick and Safe Leave (PSSL) and Public Health Emergency Leave (PHEL) in accordance with the requirements of Colorado's Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA).
Mental Health Days: Employees are given two (2) mental health days per year to use at their discretion.

The UC Berkeley Labor Center is recruiting for a Policy Researcher and a Lead Policy Researcher with the Green Economy Program, expected to start in Summer 2024.
The policy researcher will contribute to the Program’s research on workforce standards and strategies related to the energy transition, and worker-led approaches to economic development and industrial policy aimed at building the green economy. The position will involve significant collaboration with unions, environmental organizations, and community-based organizations, and other stakeholders at the state and federal level to advance a worker-led clean energy agenda.
The lead policy researcher will lead and expand the Program’s California-focused policy research on workforce standards and strategies related to the energy transition, and worker-led approaches to economic development and industrial policy aimed at building the green economy. The position will also involve significant collaboration with unions, environmental organizations, community-based organizations, and government officials/staff and other stakeholders at the local, state and federal level to advance a worker-led clean energy agenda.
The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment.
