Job Summary


The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) is a research-practice partnership with more than 250 colleges, universities, community colleges and systems collaborating to identify the drivers of faculty success and to implement informed changes.Each year, COACHE gathers survey and administrative data about the faculty experience; provides college leaders with analysis and visualizations comparing their faculty to peers; works with them to engage faculty in processes of organizational sensemaking and development; convenes them in communities of practice improving their leadership of the faculty enterprise; and disseminates data to scholars of the professoriate, who make new discoveries about faculty for COACHE to promote and apply.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE), the Financial Associate provides financial and administrative support in the following areas:

  • Monitors expenses of multiple accounts using on-line HGSE financial systems (HUBS, OBI, B2P, P-Card, Concur). Reviews P-Card sweeps weekly and corporate card transactions at least monthly. (B2P changed the communication approach and business process among COACHE, HGSE Finance, and Central Finance, the role is required to contact Central Finance directly to resolve ad hoc problems related to AP, invoices, and receipts discrepancies, etc.)
  • Prepares budget for COACHE working with core or sponsored research funds typically relying on programmatic expertise to independently develop and oversee accounts, monitor balances, and reconcile accounts, including accruals, deferrals, and contracted revenue projections; interprets and administers appropriate university and sponsored research fiscal policies.
  • Reviews and produces financial data and reports providing research and data analysis to present for use in planning and decision making.
  • Prepares periodic reports for COACHE staff and leadership, interprets and administers university financial policies.


This is a benefits eligible term appointment to June 30, 2022, with possibility of renewal.


Basic Qualifications

  • Associates degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred, or an equivalent of education plus relevant business experience.

Working Conditions

Please Note: Once Harvard resumes regular operations this position will no longer be remote and work will be performed on campus in Cambridge MA.
